When I first started at MFP I religiously drank my reccomended amount of water each day, but as time went on I have slacked. I still drink only water at work and at home unless I have fat free skim milk....but I was only drinking when I felt thirsty and often only finished one small (16 ounce) bottle, sometimes not even that.

So today I decided to change that....it's only a little after 2pm here and I've got more than half my water drank for the day (I want to get it in while at work so I can keep track better). But now I remember why I hate drinking this much water....all the trips to the bathroom:grumble: My hands feel raw from washing them so much despite how much lotion I slather on.

How do you dedicated water drinkers deal with having to go to the bathroom all the time....do you eventually just get used to it?

Take a sip every few minute than thinking 8-10 ounces of water at time. When I began my Weight loss journey in Jan 09, I was drinking same amount of water like now (80-110 ounces). I was going to bathroom every 20 min...now I take sip of water every few minute, I think my body is adjusting to the amount of water intake...so I am not running to the bathroom every 20 min..

I woulnd't say I've gotten used to the trips, but every time I have to go, I just think about the toxins that are coming out of my body! :0)

Also, since I weigh in at the gym once a week, I think about how much weight will NOT be on the scale after going so many times! Hey, it's the little things!

  • I, too, struggle with this....dry hands and all! It's REALLY annoying, but I figure it gets me away from my desk...walking (excercise) and it releases toxins!
  • Your body does seem to get used to a higher water intake over time and the trips to the bathroom slow down a bit.......either way drinking enough has too many benefits to let trips to the bathroom stop you from keeping it up.

think of it as exercise, having to get up and walk there 37 times a day.

plus, all the time spent in the bathroom, is time spent NOT working, right?

also i think of all the toxins i'm cleansing outta me.

i find that the trips became less frequent and less - OMG I GOTTA GO NOW! now its just normal and i think my body has adjusted to the amount of water i drink. i am pretty consistant and drink 4-6 16oz bottles a day.

    speaking of taking a 'break' - BRB...:noway:
