Lower back pain while running

So I've been running for a while now. Not as much lately but I'm getting back into it to train for my 10k coming up (I'm doing the Rock 'N' Roll 10k in New York on October 22nd!). Ever since I first started running, I have noticed that my lower back will start to hurt me about 10 minutes into my run. I've tried so many different things. I've researched online for the proper running form (videos) and have had coaches show me the proper running form. I've tried stretching beforehand and not stretching beforehand. I've tried taking a painkiller beforehand (which I know is not recommended but I was getting desperate). I've tried doing the run walk method to see if that would ease the pressure and pain I feel. I've tried just running through the pain as well but NOTHING is working!!!!! I feel fine running long distances in terms of my breathing and everywhere else on my body. Its JUST my lower back!! Does anyone have any tips, personal experience, advice on what I should do???

My lower back pain was caused by tight hamstring and hip flexors (a common forgotten area). You can find a few good stretches onling for the hip flexors. You have to be patient because strengthening and stretching this area takes quite some time. But first you should probably see a doctor or chiropractor.0

could be your shoes maybe. i tried running barefoot on my treadmill and i didn't get all of that jarring in my bones like when i run in my running shoes. i am thinking of trying minimalist running shoes to see if that does anything for me....0

I was having that pain walking several years back and was xray'd and found out my hip was out of place. (gotta love what being preggers does to your body) Once I got that popped back in place it's been much better. And now I can tell when it pops out and go get it adjusted.
Good luck. I would definitally get it checked out.0 -
It may be your shoes..... perhaps you need inserts?0

I was thinking about switching shoes but the ones I have now were especially picked for me by a running store here in the city so idk if that's it! Maybe I should try again tho.0

That happened to me a few years ago, and I thought I had really messed up my back somehow. Turns out the muscles around my hips (I forget the name of them) were so tight they were pulling on my lower back -- I was walking hunched over like an old woman!
I now do stretches every day for those, and if I don't, I definitely can feel it in my lower back.
The easiest way is to lay on your back, put your right ankle on your left knee, and then put your hands behind your left thigh and lift it up a little bit. But keep your right foot and knee in one line so you don't stress your knee. Repeat w/the opposite leg. I'll even rotate my hips to one side when I'm in the raised position and feeling pretty good to get an extra stretch.
You can also just do the same thing sitting in a chair and then bend over a little bit.
There's probably illustrations of this online...here's one...0 -

Yes maybe I shold get it checked out. I have kindof a large chest but it never really gave me any real back problems. My lower back gets kinda stiff sometimes when I'm sitting for too long but doesn't that happen to everyone?? grr its just so frustrating0 -

I'm wondering about minimalist shoes myself. Only on the treadmill though. Idk if i'd wanna do that in my city haha. It may feel better tho! I think I might check that out as well. thank you for your input!0 -
thank you so much! I think i might try doing these stretches every day to see if it helps.0 -
my lower-back pain was due to herniated discs.. i used to run 6-7mi a day. be very careful! get checked out.0

Are you drinking enough water? Sometimes, lower back pain could be related to your kidneys!!! A vitamin deficiency could be a possibility too, especially potassium.0
