I need a new scale

My scale (a high-end model from the mid-'80s) fluctuates about 4 lbs over/under (as in, I can step on it 3 times in one minute and be 219, 222, and 226. So I need a new scale. The reviews of ones on Amazon seem to suggest that lots of scales are inconsistent, like the one I have. Anybody have a favorite scale? I am not obsessive about this, but I do need to know if what I'm doing is working so I can adjust if needed.

I had your problem at the start, and it was irritating in that when I suspected and bought a new one, I was heavier than the old ones had led me to believe. I've got a Salter 9018S Electronic Scale. It's flexible in that you can set it to stones, pounds or kilos, flashes your actual weight when you've stopped fidgeting, has been deadly accurate from day 1, and was pretty cheap. Recommended!

I bought a Taylor Lithium Digital Thin Profile Bath Scale Model 7340 in January from walmart online for about $30. No matter how many times I get on and off I weight the same each time.

Bought this one at the end of June after having the same problem with my WW scale....I absolutely LOVE it! It's super comfortable to stand on and I get the same reading if I stand on it 3 times in a row. Plus it shows your last weigh in right above your current one so that you can easily see your loss/gain.

My wife and I have separate scales. Occasionally, I check my weight on hers to get confirmation. Both are digital, hers is a WeightWatchers and mine is a Withings. The Withings is WiFi and gives me body fat% , lean muscle mass, and BMI. I like the Tanita/Garmin line of body composition scales too, but I'm not an extreme athlete, so I won't be upgrading to any of them.

Personally, I don't have this one, but I plan on getting it. I've heard it's wonderful for consistancy and accuracy! Plus, the user ratings are awesome!! Rated 5 stars by over 1300 people.

  • I've had a Soehnle scale since 1997 and it has always matched my weight on the scale at my doctor's office. I can step on it 3 times in a row and my weight is the same number every time. Hope that helps!
