The scale

Okay, I didn't do so great last week no matter what effort I made. I made horrible food choices, beat myself up over it and made more bad choices! Well, Saturday Morning I dreaded stepping on the scale, but to my suprise, I weighed the same! I was just sure I had gained 3lbs at least. That was my motivation to go workout, get some "healthy" food in the house, and work harder this week. I have been weighing in every week, but I think the fluctuation on the scale has been half my battle, so I made a vow NOT to step on the scales until my next goal date! I will be working hard these next 4 weeks because I'm tired of seeing the up .6 , down .4, up .2 down .3 and all of that! If I see that I have lost .6 or .8 lbs, I tend to be more lenient on myself and it's time to stop NOW!! Anyone else have this battle with the scale?

  • I started last week off by weighing myself everyday! I was on my pd so I mostly wanted to learn how my weight fluctuated during that time. I was horrified though...up 3 lbs one day and down 2 lbs the next. Crazy! I think you have a good idea: waiting to weigh until your next goal date.

Scales are evil, evil things. I try to make myself stay away from it and get on once a month to record my weight at that time but sometimes it's just there, calling to me, saying, "You KNOW you want to know if your working out and eating well has paid off! You KNOW you do!" or, worse, "You KNOW you gained weight from that burger and beer! Check it out, Fatty!" LOL Stay away from the scale! Regardless of what my scale says, I know that the fact that I all of a sudden fit into all of these clothes that my sister gave me and none of the clothes I was wearing in December fit me properly is the real way to measure!

Double Ditto! I find if I weigh myself constantly, I make better food choices.

:flowerforyou: I am hating my scale too, I am up 3 down 3 up 2 down 4 argh..........I definatley cannot go 1 month without looking as I wanna be sure to catch a gain right away, but understand your frustrations of being up .5 and then down 1 its enough to drive you nuts. It gets to a point where you are weighing before you pee and then after, before you eat and after, before a #2 and after, before shower and after, before workout and after...................................................scale obsession.........ARGH.

    Hang in there............

I have maintained my weight for the last 4 weeks now:grumble: not that I want to :explode: . I want to get to my goal weight of 156lbs for my height of 5' 7.5".
Suppose I should be happy  that I have not put on weight, BUT:angry: 4 weeks of no weight loss:noway:
Started some weight training but caught a head cold, will have to give up the ice cream treat :noway: so have had to stop for awhile:sick: otherwise I cough like an old sailor.
I weigh every Monday morning which I suppose is a bit silly:devil: because of the weekend, but I am quite good and sometimes find it difficult to eat all of my calories:bigsmile:
Good luck:flowerforyou: , just hang in there, your idea sounds good if it works for you.

Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside  .
Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy :smooched: .
  • Oh My geez louise!!!! I thought i was the only one obsessed. i weigh every morning and night. SIck, I know. It is depressing to not see the numbers go down, or up and down, up and down.

I started using a tape measure. I have lost 4.5 inches off my stomach just this month. I am working out like crazy and I just cant believe the scales aren't moving. But the tape measure is....Try that for a while and you will feel success...
  • I'm usually pretty good with only weighing myself once a week. But I got a wii fit and it weighs you so I always check it..

Scales are eeeevvviiiillll:devil: How am I up a pound from my last weight check a week ago, yet lost another inch in my hips and waist, explain THAT to me you stupid scale. I know, I know, water retention, hormones yada yada...still makes you want to kick the scale across the room when you have been busting it for a week and the number doesn't go down:grumble:
