Less fructose?0

Do you increase your red meat and fruit consumption when you start eating healthy? Maybe have more plant based protein and dairy and less animal protein and switch to low fructose fruits? These are still healthy foods. Are you drinking enough water to rehydrate on days you exercise? Pay close to attention to that because with your condition you may be sensitive to dehydration even if you don't feel thirsty. What does your doctor say?4

I looked through the list of foods high in fructose and the only one that I eat much of is salad dressing.0

I cut out almost all red meat but the hydration part could be some of it. I am drinking a ton of water now. Thanks so much0

I haven't suffered with gout but have a friend who swears by cherry juice.1

OP, I hope it's okay that I jump in here. :flowerforyou:
A friend of mine's birthday is coming up and we normally exchange homemade food gifts and wine. However now I know she's suffering from gout and I'd like to give a gift that a) tastes good but b) doesn't flare the gout. My understanding is that some sweet treats might be okay, but wine would not be a great gift.
Any ideas for birthday food/beverage treats that are gout-friendly??0 -

Not OP, but my grandfather had gout. His was bad because some people can tolerate a certain amount of meat, but he couldn't tolerate any animal protein except dairy, not even fish. He did really well on dairy. Any kind of alcohol was also a big no, and he also had issues with leafy greens sometimes but not always, so may or may have not been a coincidence. So maybe something dairy/grain based? It would really depend on what your friend tolerates because different people have different tolerances. Generally, savory is better than sweet but some are fine with non-fructose sweets.1 -
Hey @sugaraddict4321
I wouldn’t sweat it too much on the gift. Everyone’s gout triggers are different. That’s why it’s so hard to figure out. Just tell your friend that you still have the receipt if the gift you give is a trigger. That’s my opinion.1 -
Hi my Dad suffers from gout and he takes cherry tablets. Since taking his flare ups have reduced significantly. It helps reduce the build up of uric acid.2
