Clever girl.
alright, i’ll quit being clever.
yes, it can be true.
yes, usually for financial reasons.
yes, it’s messy af.
yes, it’s unlikely to be the whole truth.
yes, your friend should avoid the situation if she can.5 -
Could be true. A former coworker had to continue living with her SO for two years after the relationship ended, purely for financial reasons (something to do with owning the house together). She didn't date during that time. No idea if he did.
Genuine or not, it's probably a situation best avoided.2 -
I had to do this with my ex-husband for awhile. It was terrible for both of us but I can 100% say we were just roommates. The idea of it being anything else would've been horrifically disgusting to me. During this time period I actually met the man who I've now been happily married to for years. He trusted me when I explained the situation, which I'm grateful for.
I also got out of there the instant I had a chance to, so... if the person living with their ex has the means to leave yet doesn't, that's suspicious.2 -
It can be true, but 98% of MFP people saying it are full of it.
I would suggest asking to meet the roommate to verify the validity. If he balks at that he is a fibber!3 -
I have a room for rent.2
