Hi! You might want to post something like this in the "Introduce Yourself" or "Getting Started" area, rather than under "Debate" section. ;) I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago & have struggled with my weight. I'm finding MFP very helpful though for tracking my calories & nutrition. Good luck!

I have PCOS. Was even told I am insulin resistant and at one point took metformin, which was a horrible medication for me.

I am losing weight on a high carb diet (60%), not eating low carb. It's true but added it for debate purposes. I currently have few symptoms.

Agree you don't want this in the debate section. But in the spirit of debate, I was also diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance and was on Metformin. I've never been overweight in my life and had no problem shedding vanity pounds when I wanted to. It seems there have been plenty of people here with PCOS that when accurately weighing and logging do not have any issues losing weight.

I think the bolded in your OP is what is the issue in most cases.

    Hi everyone,

I've moved the thread to Getting Started, so let's leave the debate comments out from here forward. Thanks. :flowerforyou:

    I am 55.
I was diagnosed with PCOS at a young age, it runs through my family. I was also diagnosed as insulin resistant. I could not do metformin or other drugs.
Over the years I have tried EVERY diet (with a doctors and calorie deficit) and I kept gaining and no amount of working out did anything.
For me they only thing that works is keto (weigh, measure and track on here).
When I say works, I mean weight loss (woo hoo!), no brain fog, return of my cycle (when I was younger), better skin and hair, more energy and that happy feeling that you get when you have control and hope.
We all have to find what works for us, please know that you are not alone.

What happened when you tried metformin? Jw if I'm crazy or if this is the pills fault. I cant even stay on birth control due to elevating high blood pressure. I also have Insulin resistance

I am a mom to a two year old. Shortly after delivery, I was diagnosed with PCOS and so many things made sense! I have had "woman issues" ever since I first started my period at 14. I am currently on Metformin for insulin resistance and I have had no problems on it other than initially a week of bad diarrhea. 😖 Good luck on your journey!

I was diagnosed last year, and I'm the one who brought it up at my appointment because I've suspected for years. (I actually brought it up MANY times over the years with every kind of doctor I visited, but a naturopath is the other person who listened to me and checked my hormones.) I'm not insulin resistant though and have never been on Metformin. One of the books I've found really helpful is called Period Repair Manual. The author explains all things period and hormone related. I learned a lot and think it's a book most women should own.

Not to hijack, but is anyone willing to share symptoms? I'm not sure if I have it. I went off birth control in Dec and still no period. I thought maybe it was because I had a brief eating disorder relapse last year, but I've been consistently eating around maintenance for months (I'm a healthy weight) and still nada. I've been on birth control since I was 14 since my early periods were very long--like a month at a time. I do still get some acne. No hirsuteness. Always been a normal weight (except when very underweight for a time as a teen with a more severe eating disorder). Unsure about insulin resistance.

I went to the doctor in March to ask about the lack of periods and just got a shrug in response and told to go back in summer, which I'm planning to do (and see a diff GP as I wasn't terrible impressed with her).

Hi I also have PCOS I was diagnosed 25yrs ago. I love my carbs but just lately my body have been rejecting them which has made it easy for me to look at what I eat and the changes I now want to make. So me and my family has weighed in this morning and starting our new lifestyle from here on. Iv had MFP for a while but only today I have felt committed. So here’s to a brand new me xx

@staticsplit I had some bloodwork done at different points in my cycles, also symptoms (irregular periods, acne, trouble conceiving) but the main one was ultrasound (polycyclic ovaries).
