I a a 65 year old transgender Female. I was in a crash on the 23rd of February2018 in Glasgow on the way home after have an operation.
The ambulance crashed in to an articulated lorry.
I was on the stretcher and was thrown forward, one belt broke a rib, another belt on my waist nearly cut me in two and hurting my waist and hips, and I was thrown forward with such great force my head nearly hit my feet and severely injured my back Since then I have put on one and a half stone so I am now 14 stone. Obviously I can't exercise as I have very poor mobility so dieting is HARD.
Any help or advice will be gratefully accepted.
Thank you,Shelta-Thari.xxx

Well the good thing is you don't have to exercise to lose weight. The hard thing might be is figuring out what your maintenance level might be. Do you have any idea what that might be?

Hopefully I am not over-stepping but after your reassignment surgery do you use the male or female averages? Most(if not all) of them are based on sex, age, height and activity level. You can do this though. At first you might have to take a stab in the dark as to how much you should be eating to lose or maintain and go from there. If you aren't losing increase your deficit. If you are losing to fast then decrease your deficit.

Again exercise is not necessary but any type of movement is helpful in burning calories...gentle walking, light weights (I'm talking Barbie type weights, dancing...etc...etc)

I know that I haven't been much help but I just wanted to assure you that you can do this.

PS I think I have seen a couple of posts from other transgender so hopefully they will see your post and come to the rescue! Maybe try looking in the Groups and see if there might be one.

    Good luck!

love your name! *sorry i got off topic but it initially caught my eye* would love to know how you came about it!

however more importantly - so sorry to hear about your circumstances. i hope you can get some initial help with home care for physio to get you to a place where you can perhaps start to walk and work your way up from there.
i have invisible illnesses so i understand where you're coming from.
do you have friends/family that can help you out in some capacity if it's not possible for home care?

please keep us posted - we're here for you and i articulate what Annie_01 said also

    cheers

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, and wish you a speedy and full recovery!

If you search on Google for things like "seated exercise" or "exercises for disability", or even "chair yoga", you might find some gentle exercises that you're able to do. Please do listen to your body and your doctors, though, and don't do anything that hurts you.

As @Annie_01 said, weight loss is all about calories. Exercise is for health and fitness, and while it's definitely a good idea to do some (and it can allow you to eat more, too!), it's not necessary for weight loss. If you can figure out an appropriate calorie goal and stick to it most of the time, you'll be able to lose weight. It might not be easy, but it's definitely possible.

    Wishing you all the best!
