Especially when it's used in the SPCA ad.

There used to be so many but I don’t really cry much anymore.
This was one that used to do it.
Oh Lord, I feel so barren
and ashamed of who I am

I know someday I will be free
The weight of sin shall be released but for now

When I was little my dad use to sing the song Amanda to me by Don Williams. My dad has since passed away it's been 3 years now and I was listening to YouTube and the song Amanda came on but this time it was sung by Chris Stapleton. I had to pull over immediately because I just lost it and started crying. Everytime I hear that song I will always always hear my dad sing it to me.7

Me and Bobbie McGee.
It's more a memory of an afternoon with my daughter when she was young. She asked me why I liked that song so much. I was trying to explain it to her, by using my Mom and Dad as an example. My Father had died a year before my Mom. I tried to explain to her the line in the song, "I would trade all of my tomorrows for a singe yesterday", by explaining to her how my Mother felt about my Father and why that year before she passed she was so sad.
I was driving and started to cry before I had explained it all to her. I looked over at her and she didn't know how to react. I was not, normally, a demonstrative person. That's was I envision when I hear that song. I got a little teared up writing this.6 -

I've never seen anyone do that before.
yep. a song can take you back to a memory just as much a photo or even a familiar smell.

Why Me by Kris Kristofferson.
Whenever I feel down and think things are stacked against me, the words of this song make me realize just how truly blessed I am.1 -
The first time I heard the song Just Say When by Nothing More I broke down crying.1
-
Justin Moore - If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away.
This song just hits far too close to home for me.1 -

Songs that get me every time:
The little Girl- Joh MIcheal Montgomery
Where Have You Been- Kathy Matea
The Christmas Shoes - Various Artists (I think)
Roses for MaMa- C.W. McCall
It's usually the country songs, lol. I was listening to country classics one day and found myself feeling very depressed. I wasn't sure if I chose sappy country music because I was depressed, or if I was depressed because I chose sappy country music.1 -
Breathe Me by Sia. I can usually get through the song without crying but not the video from Six Feet Under's series finale.2
-
Christina Perri - A Thousand Years- Heard it when we found out we were pregnant after 6+ years of trying. We later lost that baby. Still can't even hear the beginning notes to that song.
Christmas Shoes-6 -

oh yeah. I hear that. I got divorced after 9 years of marriage and it was pretty mutual, very amicable, etc, but that song is still the ONLY song that ever made me cry about it...2 -
Harry Chapin - Cat's in the cradle
This song never bothered me until I had a son.3 -
I cried a lot about different things when I was a kid, then one day just sorta stopped. I've cried at a few funerals, but otherwise I've often wondered if that's just part of me that's broken. Anyway, all that to preface "I've been thinking about this since I first saw the topic and can't come up with a song that makes me cry, even as much as I wanted to participate"
