Protien shakes

Has anyone experienced weight gain while using protien shakes? I was using Lean Shake as a meal replacement and realized that my weight would increase and decrease when I ate regular food. This aslo happened when I tried a high protein and exercise program. Anyone else have this problem?

a protein shake wont make you gain weight... a calorie surplus will.

you may also have been confusing water weight (from starting a new exercise program) with fat gain.

It could be bloating. A protein shake is just a protein supplement...it doesn't cause weight gain. Consuming calories in excess of what you require to maintain causes weight (fat) gain. That's just like asking if eating chicken causes weight gain.

Could also be correlation rather than causation. If you're having protein shakes, I'm guessing you're working out a lot too. Exercise can cause water retention.
