I am 71 years old and need to lose 20 lbs. but more I need to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. Been ignoring healthy eating and exercise the past couple of years and it has taken a toll on my health, energy, and attitude. Look in the mirror and am depressed! But am back at getting back to healthy eating and exercise. Self-care! Am anxious to read your posts and learn from you what has worked for you in the way of tips and motivation. I don’t have a buddy on this trip!

I'm Helene and 71. I've been doing this off and on....Currently on for about three weeks. I'd love to connect and share.
There is an over 50 group but it has several (lots) of posters who seem well acquainted. I'd like to share tips and motivation with someone who has less to lose. (go to Search and you can find them if you'd like.)
My picture is from 2012, about, after a loss on WW. I have inched up over the years and want to lose again the last 10 pounds. It makes the difference between a muffin top and not. Also, I have the clothes from then that would be so much more comfortable. Then I can shop in my closet.
My current strategy is to count calories and aim for 1000 but at least stay under 1200. My metabolism is slowed. It might be from age or restricted calories? Or from sitting and knitting in front of the TV.
I joined a Gym in March and have found a couple of classes that I like and are challenging . I'm also walking as much as possible. Last, I have stopped the nightly wine. I was able to have a glass a night on WW and lost weight but am stopping to break the habit and other habits like a snack with the wine.
I hope you see this.
I will bookmark this and maybe we can figure out how to make it a discussion for others to join.

The easiest way is just to send friend requests to people who seem to have something in common with you. I'm 58, have been here for 4 years but can always use a new friend or two, lost 28 lbs and gained some back--currently am trying to lose about 7-8lbs ...again.... Sending you both a friend request.0
