Loosing weight to try and conceive w/ PCOS

Hello my name is Joanna and I am starting my weight loss journey because I need to be healthier. I need to loose weight to try and help me to conceive my first child. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome when I was just 21 years old. At that time a doctor told me I had the worst case she had ever seen and I may not be able to have children. I gained a hundred pounds and was never able to lose it and keep it off due to hormones. I’m 28 now and recently married and hoping to have our first child in the next year or two. My new motivation! If anyone is in a similar situation past or present feel free to share and lend some support!

Hi! I also have PCOS and have been tryimg to get pregnant! Me and my husband have been married since Nov 2017, but we knew with my PCOS it would be hard to conceive so we have actually been trying since we got engaged in May 2017, so it's coming up on 2 years of us trying with no luck 😞. Im overweight with pcos so wasnt surprised to find out after about 4 months of ttc that I don't ovulate. Because of this my Drs naturally said "lose weight". They said losing weight might help me start ovulating, as well as just being healthier! Thats the only advise they would give me, so here I am again, trying to lose weight! Pcos sucks, it makes it so hard to lose weight and keep it off, i previously lost about 30lbs, but low carb was too hard to maintain.
So anyway, I'll stop rambling now and just say I would love if we could be motivation/support for each other!3 -
We definitely can. I find keeping my calories a day at 1500 or less helps me and limiting as much sugar as you can. Most doctors don’t actually know enough about PCOS because they don’t specialize in it, so finding a specialist in women’s health and disease would benefit you. Women with PCOS sometimes can have a naturally elevated insulin level due to the way your body burns fat. Sugar elevated insulin naturally which is why you want to limit sugar intake. Which is why low sugar is important for PCOS. Low carb is good as well. Just cut back on bread and potato, basically just don’t eat it everyday ; try every other. Also don’t eat past 7pm and start out walking 30 minutes or more a day 5 days a week and you’re u should see a difference in about a week or two. At least that worked for me anyway but it can’t hurt to try.😉0

hi ladies, my sister was told she had PCOS, and was told she would never have children. my sister gained alot of weaight. she was a size 22maybe 24
she is now a size 12! she has a beautiful 5 month old baby boy. and is pregnant again with another baby boy. due 25th june. never give up hope xx4 -

I'm also TTC and facing PCOS challenges so on a very low caloroe, low sugar diet. Need to lower BF% and get back on the fitness bus to increase my muscle %.
The year before I turned 30 I did 12 months of F45. Starting weight 53kg (skinny fat/skinny PCOS), finishing weight 62kg (Gained 5kg of muscle.)
After a 12 month break...down, now i'm 72kg, took bulking a little too seriously!
I've been off the pill for 9 months and struggling with frequent migraines and irregular cycle, not to mention pimples for the first time in my life and the worst insomnia and consequent chronic fatigue which makes exercise so difficult.
I need a miracle!
I understand your pain and would love to support one another!

Pcos here also, as well as only one healthy tube. Keto has been my lifesaver!! I ovulated for the first time in over a year, if not longer, this month!!

We’re all in this together. Let’s all keep in mind progress is progress. The small goals are equally important as the big goals. Having PCOS and higher insulin levels make it harder to lose weight but no matter how hard the struggle is a pound is a pound and an inch is an inch. We can do this CYSTERS!0

It CAN happen. I lost 100lbs to have my miracle baby 5 yrs ago and it was the happiest day of my life!
I am back to losing weight because I now realize I have to be healthy for her.

I have PCOS and 2 children. My first was conceived when I was still very heavy at 280 - no drug therapy. I lost about 40 and had my second 6 years later at the age of 39. It wasn't until I was 46 that I began my weight loss and went down 130 lbs through high protein, calories around 1800ish, daily 60 min of walking and 45 min of weight training with a sprinkle of HIIT between sets. It is possible !1

I must add I am currently fighting the scale again - gaining muscle and my metabolism getting sluggish because I went to far with training and developed CNS Burnout on top of all the issues PCOS beings (gluten intolerance, insulin resistance etc)0

I just found this post and can so relate, diagnoses with PCOS in my mid 20’s now in my 30’s been trying to TTC for about 2 yrs now, first doc I saw 2 years ago was horrible and I refused to go back. My husband was strong and we talked after finding a new amazing doctor we are getting off to a better start she is optimistic and realistic which is nice. More complications but we do have options. More tests to come next cycle to see where we stand, and best approach.
Once you find a supportive doctor with expierenxe I think it’s a game changer.... wishing you all the best on your journies!
