I'm big on chicken/turkey for most of my protein as it is totally versatile and you can't get much leaner unless you have access to venison and bison. lol I'm also starting on a Whey protein powder (for women). There are many yes but for men, I know a lot of people that like MuscleTech NitroTech Pure Whey powder but if you're counting calories then I would recommend: Legion Athletics Whey + protein both are about $50 on amazon.

I like plain whey protein, chicken, beef, fish, seafood, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, beef jerky, lower sodium deli meat, eggs and egg whites.

    Best for what?

If you're looking for cheapest sources of protein, see this thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10247171/carbs-and-fats-are-cheap-heres-a-guide-to-getting-your-proteins-worth-fiber-also/p1

If you're looking for best tasting, you'll need to tell us some more about what you like to eat and anything you prefer to avoid.

If you're looking specifically for bars/powders/shakes, keep in mind first that those aren't necessary; they're simply one way that people can get protein. There's nothing at all wrong with eating them, but they aren't required either.

Chicken breast, plain Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese have great protein bangs for the calorie buck.

If you are referring to protein powders, this comes down to personal preferences. My criteria is no artificial sweeteners (blech) and the cows were treated well, so I use Biochem Ultimate 100 % Whey protein, Natural. Ingredients: Whey protein isolate, Natural French vanilla flavor, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum.

I shoot for a good variety each week. I get my protein from fish, seafood, meat, dairy, and plant based sources. There is not much I don't like to eat so that is think is "best" for me.
