Hey there,

I am really bad at eating and I want to get better and so I have been looking up what’re macros and micros.

It said macros or proteins, fats and carbs, while micros are the vitamins and minerals.

When I look on my fitness pal though the nutrition section doesn’t contain all 13 vitamins for my food selections and I think it’s missing some minerals as well.

You can track up to 13 different nutrients. There is a "View Full Report - Printable" version button at the bottom on your Food page, click that and the defaults columns on that page are:

Calories Carbs Fat Protein Cholest Sodium Sugars Fiber

You can choose from a drop-down list for your FOOD page: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Those are the choices available to track.

Food database items are entered by users/members, so not all nutrients will be available nor correct on all foods. You can create your own foods if you want more.

Well, you can only include info on the vitamins and minerals for which there are fields in the MFP database, and those are vitamins A and C and the minerals sodium, potassium, calcium, and iron. The fields in the MFP database reflect the U.S. nutritional labels in use at the time the database was created, presumably because the expectation was that users adding to the crowd-sourced database would be using the nutritional labels on their food packages as their sources of information.

So wait is that like saying these other vitamins are important but they don’t count them because of the u.s idea of what’s needed in a diet?

I know this thread is old, but does MFP still only track the 13 nutrients? I need Magnesium added most of all.

Try using Chronometer, it tracks a larger amount of nutrients.
