I need some help!!! I just got back from a kidney doc that doubles as a hypertension doc, I have had hypertension (diagnosed) for about 4 months, I have been dieting for about 10 weeks and have lost 60lbs (I am morbitly obese 6'0" and 393lbs) I am obviosly seeing great results with the diet plan I am on, how do I lower my sodium intake and still eat good? low cal wise, I cant do much exercise due to back problems and the obesity I am swimming as much as I can, (which is not very often due to work and the pool is 30 mins away and im on call 24hrs) so any ideals, books I can read, youtube videos, movies anything that will help me alter my diet and still shed LBS quickly or at a optimum level to get and stay healthy. thanks in advance for the help.

I've found that avoiding processed foods (things in boxes from grocery stores) and eating out (fast food AND dine in places) helps me reduce my sodium intake.
If I make all the food I eat during the day (around 1700 calories) I can end up with 1,200 mg to 2,000 mg of sodium that day.
Anytime I add in a boxed dinner, fast food, or something I didn't really prepare myself (think of microwave dinners) I see the sodium go up.0 -
that has been the major thing i have been eating Smart ones because of the low cal options and somewhat good taste, i am an on the go type and its extreemly hard to get in all of meals cooked by me (which i prefer cooking) so im looking for on the go options, and things i should stay away from its too bad i have a freezer full of smart ones i probally wont eat or eat much of. so i think cooking a coupple of meals at once and packaging them myself in containers is going to be the temp fix and if it works out good im going to keep on untill the hypertension is gone and hopefully after that as well0

You've got to make changes if you want to see progress. You can still be on-the-go type but you can't blame eating fast food options on that.
Your 'temp' fix of making many meals and packaging them is actually a staple way of living for quite a few people. It isn't a bad thing at all0 -
freezing meals is a great idea if you don't have the time every day to cook! try snacking on unsalted nuts, like almonds, or some unsalted sunflower seeds. and then just fruits and veggies for snacks. idk what else for 'on the go' with low sodium... i struggle with this stuff too. i try to have yogurt as a snack a lot. oh, air popped popcorn with nothing on it! dried apricots or similar things, raisins, craisins... unsalted chips and salsa. hopefully this can help some or maybe spur some other ideas for you.0
