Pain in shins calves and back when walking

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to walk and do a plan where I walk everyday and increase it but I start to feel pain in my shins to the extent that they feel worn out, also feel a burn in my calves and hamstrings. It happens for just 10 mins of walking constantly at a moderate speed. I am quite sedentary and after rest for for 20 mins or so the pain goes away. It's not really a pain that I'd say needs urgent medical attention or anything.

I've bought a new pair of trainers that are right for my feet.

Also when I go to the mall or anything and walk around and shop I don't get it, so I could be out shopping and walking for an hour or two and don't get that pain.

I'm 6ft and 298lbs

Any help especially from those who've had similar experience would be appreciated. I really want to work at this and hopefully get to a point where I can start up running.

Are you wearing different shoes at the mall? Or just walking more slowly or differently at the mall?

I wear the same trainers, the only thing I can think is it's either where I walk outside, the road is a little steep or its the pace that I'm going at.

A few months ago I was doing upto 30 mins on a treadmill and was ok with it.

It's so annoying because I want to walk for my cardio until I lose a decent amount.

I would walk slower, the pace you shop at. There is nothing wrong with walking slower.

    Thank you.

I've had a similar thing. Walking slower definitely helped.
