How many pushups are needed to bench 1/2 ton?
I would really like to be able to bench press 1/2 a ton one day. It's my long term dream. How many push ups would I need to be able to do to be able to bench press 1/2 a ton if I do push ups everyday? I can do about 20 knee push ups right now... up from 10 last week!

No I really want to be able to accomplish this goal. I don't have a weight bench though, so I'm hoping I can accomplish this one day by doing a lot of knee pushups!0 -

I think it would depend on how much your *kitten* weighs, since in knee push-ups your *kitten* tends to be the highest point on your body. 200lb derriere would be approximately 100 push-ups, but since MFP exercise amounts aren't quite accurate I would double it to be on the safe side.0

Well then..based on the ASSumption that you weigh about 210 here is the breakdown:
1/2 ton = 1,000 lbs
1 real pushup for you = 210 lbs
1 knee pushup = 50 lbs (going off of the other posts that ASSumed that most of the weight is in your derriere)
1/2 ton (1,000)/knee pushups (50) = 20
Therefore you would need to do 20 pushups to equal a half ton
