Any links for more info? I'm 5'2" 128lbs and looking to lose 10 lbs, I've been struggling doing the weighing food and everything. I've lost 40 pounds before but now I'm burned out from that and I fall off the wagon constantly. Yet it's easy for me not to eat as opposed to having food throughout the day. So I want to try fasting. Any and all info is appreciated!

    There are a bunch of different kinds. Which kind are you interested in?

    Some do every other day fasting or 5:2, where you eat maintenance on non fasting days and then 25% of maintenance on the fasting days. Others eat within a specific window (like only within 8 or 6 hours). It can work well if you find it an easier way to control calories.

    Most forms of IF just involve having a specific number of hours each day that you eat during. You still need to be in a calorie deficit, the idea is that it's easier to control appetite and therefore calories when you aren't eating all day. I'd say "entry level" IF is 16:8, so you eat during an 8 hour window.

    Just play round with your schedule until you find the right one for you. When I was doing IF, I'd at my first meal @ 12:30 - 1PM and close the kitchen between 8 and 9 PM. Just had a cup of coffee or two in the morning. Good luck!

    It's important to understand that IF in and of itself doesn't cause weight loss. It's just a method of creating the required calorie deficit.

    For example if you're using 5:2 protocol you'll be eating at maintenance for 5 days and creating your calorie deficit on the 2 fasting days. You'll still need to weigh and measure your food each day to ensure that you're eating the correct number of calories. Likewise if you're using an eating window style of IF like 16:8 or 20:4 you'll need to weigh and measure the food you're eating during your 8 or 4 hour eating window.
