No I have to count calories as well as I have recently discovered my ideas about portions are, erm....unrealistic.4

It really does help because you save yourself any calories that you would usually eat in the morning. You can still use the app to make sure you are in a deficit but IF makes it easier to estimate1

Yup! I do a low carb lifestyle. I plateaued for a few weeks and adopted 16:8. Back to dropping 1-2 lb a week. It helped me so much because I was a night time snacker. I do find some days that I don't eat enough because I am actually full.2

I've gained weight, lost weight and maintained weight on IF. No magic in it. You still need to stay in a caloric deficit if weight loss is your goal.
Shortening the amount of time you eat in a day can help some people control intake. But it's also entirely possible to gain weight using IF if you end up eating too many calories in whatever time frame you've chosen.
It's all about CICO.11 -
To the OP, if you open your request to include men, I’ll chime in and share my positive experiences.0

Do not try IF if you have ANY past history of binge eating. I fell into a vicious cycle of yo-yo dieting when I did IF.3
