My meetings at work are catered and they do these amazing soft white chocolate cookies that I've managed to avoid for 2 weeks now...
Today I have back-to back meetings from 9 until 2:30, and those damned biscuits will be there, on the table, right in front of me. I can smell them right now!! AAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!! This is even worse than the collague who ate a bloody kitkat in MY PERSONAL SPACE yesterday. Yeah he thought it was hilarious.

LOL I work on a trading floor so they are all like that. You have to be tough around here!!!0

Why not take a protein bar as a substitute?0

Oh girl i feel your pain, I am a server and the restaurant I work for is DELISH, plus the chefs prepare us dishes all the time and they are usually covered in butter and oil....
SO I will tell you my secrets. First, eat before you go, that way you KNOW deep down that you are full and don't want anything else. Second, take a lot of water and drink a sip every time you feel the urge to eat. Lastly, (and probably most importantly), take a substitute. Something that you have to chew...like carrot sticks or celery.
ALSO-GUM!!! Gum helps a lot. Being a server, I am not allowed to chew gum at work so I can't use that while working but I do take altoids or other mints. I find that when I have a minty fresh taste in my mouth, I don't want to eat anything!
Hope this helps.0 -
haha I'm sure your colleague didn't mean to tempt you. I work with traders too.. the last thing they care about is how much they weigh without their wallet in their pockets lol
bring your own delicious snack (like fruit, carrot sticks or even a protein bar) or eat something filling right before your meetings - you won't even want any snacks.. or bring a cup of sweetened green tea or bottle of water to sip on.
if you're really tempted by the chocolate and it fits into your diary, bring a square of dark chocolate (70% cocoa or above) but be careful not to overdo it (like during every meeting - only when you really need something to hit the spot).0 -
Mmm... Cookies...
Could you have just one?0 -

The funny part is I don't eat chocolate at home, the only time I'm tempted is in the office (culture/habit/boredom?). It's the smell of these cookies that send the wrong signals to my brain. I just need to say strong. And maybe block my nose!!!0 -
You can have a small Kit Kat (if the craving really takes over) a 2 finger bar is 107 cals!!!
Not too sure about the white chocolate cookies though - they sound delish but dangerous!0 -
Have one and go for a nice de-stressing walk or run later. I find that if I say no to everything I land up over doing it sooner ot later, but if I plan for "cheats" I'm more in control.0

Its the culture.. being stuck in the office for 8+ hours a day. I don't even look at the dessert table anymore at company sponsored events/meetings. I'll always go up with my team but grab a water bottle and maybe some crackers if they're unsalted. I'm the only female on my team and they know I eat pretty clean (we spend a lot of time together lol) so they know I'm not really gonna sit there and eat up lol
Out of sight out of mind though. Once you get used to saying no, you won't even think about them.0 -
I ran into the same problem at work. One of the people who sits next to me brought fried chicken in - Its my weakness!!! I smelled it and immediately my mouth started watering... So I grabbed an apple and smelled it haha. It sounds silly but the smell of the apple made me forget all about the chicken! I ate the apple too, of course0

The best thing to do here is find out the nutritional info. This may require some serious Googling to find out brands etc but I'm pretty sure once you realise how many calories they are then you'll be able to leave them alone. This nearly always works for me :-)0

Awesome solution to the cookie problem; I talked up their gooey goodness big-time, then made everyone in each meeting take 1! Not a single choc-tastic calorie passed my lips today
Thanks to you all for your advice!0
