I just have to laugh at myself. Thankfully, this hasn't caused me to gain weight, but I have been eyeballing my tablespoons. You know, sugar-free creamer in my coffee, hummus on my sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, salad dressing.

Yesterday, I decided to actually measure those things. Wow! Have I been WAY overestimating!!!

Oh the amount of Peaunt Better I have been using...and creamer!!!

But I'm really excited now because this means I will not be overestimating anymore! Haha!

Good for you! Understanding what true portions are is a huge step to success!

People might make fun of you for measuring every tablespoon you use but at least you know it's accurate!!

ESPECIALLY with something like peanut butter!! WOAH!

Yup, so true. This is one of my biggest problems too. My idea in my head of what a tablespoon or a cup of something looks like and reality are two different things. My head likes to lie to me and tell me that the portion I just put on my plate is a cup of rice and 4 oz of meat when its really more like 2 cups and 10 oz! Now I'm trying to measure everything and its really opened my eyes. I think I'm going to buy a scale too so I can measure my meat servings. It all adds up. :drinker:

The other day I was measuring (actually weighing) my 2 tbsp of peanut butter - mostly because I can't seem to get it all out of the tablespoon to eat it on my celery, and I nailed it the first time. Which means, I might need to cut back on my peanut butter intake? Noooooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, Tam, I will definitely be measuring from now on! I'm pretty good at measuring out other stuff, but for some reason, with Tablespoons, I thought...I can do this!

    Oh, I so can't!
  • i have this problem too so i'll be buying me a food scale, the worst is the meat, how much 4 or 5 oz is, i measure everything else but the meat...i know i'm over estimating!

I just bought a food scale. Turns out I had been underestimating meat ounces.

I don't have problems with meat. I look on the package and divide it accordingly.

But tablespoons and cups as well...

Yep, I too was over eyeballing with my tsp and tbsp. In fact I had measuring spoons, just didn't like them cause they were old  so I was using regular teaspoon and tablespoon. I have nice new ones now and a measuring cup too, plus a digital scale so I'm even weighing my baked cheetos (even though it's really hard to fit more than an oz of them in a snack bag and close it without tearing unless it's over:tongue:
