Hello - I’m nearly 20 and have roughly 60lbs to lose, in an attempt to prevent loose skin I’ve been searching around to see what a reasonable amount of weight per week is to lose, 1-2 lbs has cropped up a lot but is this the upper limit?

Appreciate any tips/advice - thanks!

Let MFP do the number crunching - you just have to decide about your macros percentages. Time (and maybe a little bit of exercise) will bring results.

Yes, with 60 lb to lose you should be aiming for about 1 lb per week. Maybe 1.5 lb, definitely not more.

The speed at which you lose weight doesn't affect whether you end up with loose skin in the long term, though.

Essentially, your skin has a certain amount of elasticity, and it shrinks back (or not) at a certain rate. If you lose weight faster than your skin shrinks, you will have loose skin until it catches up. But ultimately, your skin either has enough elasticity to shrink all the way back, or it doesn't. And the speed at which you lose fat doesn't change that.

By the way, you might get more responses if you post in Getting Started or General Health, Fitness and Diet. Those forums are all about asking for and discussing personal advice. This forum is for arguing about the bigger issues.
