Is my deficit too much?

Hey, guys. So I’ve lost 70lbs since July 1, 2019. I am currently 5’3”, Female, 23 yes old, and 170lbs, so I have a bit to go yet. Right now, I’m walking 10km a day average which has me burning around 2400 calories a day (TDEE included). I’m eating about 1200 calories a day, up to 1400 some days, but not taking any “rest days” from walking. Two days a week I run 2-2.5 km at my best pace then walk the rest to get up to the 10km average. Question is, am I doing too much? Should I be having a cheat meal or rest day or something or should this be alright? Open to all opinions.

Following, as I’m about in the same boat. I workout every day of the week and stay at or under 1200 calories daily.

    Congrats on your success!

how fast are you losing now (say in the last 3-4 weeks)?

1200 a day seems low given yout stats and movement/exercise.

You should be netting 1200cal at the very least, and eating some of your exercise calories back. At your height and weight you should be able to eat more than 1200cal net, did you happen to pick 2lbs/week loss rate by chance? Or is that just the number you decided on?

I lost at 1200 a day, but, around 175 had to decrease to 1 lbs/week because 1200 wasn’t enough food for emotional stability.
    How are you feeling?
    Do you have energy?
    How is mental health?

Hi OP and well done on the 70lb !

Are you tracking and weighing all your food ? Am wondering if you might have some portion creep going on.

Walking 10k (6 mi) burns about 350 cals for someone your weight. About 60 cal per mile. You should be eating back at least half of your exercise cals to maintain adequate nutrition and energy.

It’s hard to say. My weight fluctuates about 15 lbs through each month from hormones and what not so I try to weigh my self at the same time each month. I should be losing 2lbs or just over 2lbs a week.

Yes. I weigh everything. I’m very strict with calorie counting.

Presumably you want to lose 50 lbs or less with your stats? You should be aiming for no more than 1 lb/week. And if you’re losing faster than 2 lbs/week that’s far too aggressive. You need to eat more to fuel your activity before you hit the wall.

How fast are you losing? How accurate is your logging?
