Has anyone gone down in shoe size as result of weight-loss? How much had you lost when that happened?

After losing over 80 pounds I lost 2 shoe sizes and went from wide width to regular.

I lost 100 pounds and have been in maintenance for over a year and a half. No shoe size change. My foot is short and wide (6.5 4E). I was hoping my feet would get narrower, but no such luck. I'm sure it depends on things like how much of your fat is stored in your feet, and whether/when your body burns that fat.

I lost about 235 lb and my feet have gone from a UK 7 EEEE+ to a UK 6/6.5 D.

I've lost 1/2 size losing 40 pounds and can wear normal width for some shoes types now. I hope they don't shrink too much more because I'm already a size 6, lol.

In a little over 20lbs my feet did get a touch narrower. They were medium, pushing wide before. So sometimes buying the wide shoes was more comfortable. I bought a wide pair of flats at a going out of business sale and stashed them away in my closet. When I pulled them out last year after my weight loss, they didn't fit anymore. More recently, I bought a pair of shoes that were supposed to be medium (That I later read will easily accomodate wides). I had to make modifications so they would fit. They were just a tad sloppy. Length didn' t decrease. I'm still a solid size 8.

I'm down half a shoe size. I think I noticed it around the 100lb mark. Not entirely sure whether vanity sizing has hit women's footwear (ie, I'm the same size I always was but the 10 I used to wear is now sold as a 9.5), or whether my feet have actually shrunk.

I lost 60 pounds and almost a whole shoe size, depending on the shoes. Walking shoes and athletic shoes I wear an 8, pumps and boots an 8.5. I was a solid size 9 for my entire adult life up until the last couple of years.

I think shoes is the one place where vanity sizing isn't as prevalent. Perhaps you were really a 9.5 wide but wearing size 10's and are now a 9.5 med, so the 9.5's fit better?

When I sold shoes, I was required to measure people's feet every time if I was helping them select shoes. I was suprised at the number of people who were wearing the wrong size. Things like wearing half size up instead of wide, or wearing wides when they really needed half size down were very common. One of the most extreme cases I remember was a woman who came in complaining of foot pain, back pain, etc and needed new shoes. She was wearing a 7 4E or something like that. I measured her feet, and she turned out to be like a 9 medium! I have no idea how she fit her feet in 7's! It's no wonder her feet were killing her!

I’ve only lost 45 pounds. I haven’t gone down a shoe size but quite a few pairs of shoes I’ve had a while are now too wide. I stretched them out obviously when I was heavier. They are medium width and I’m still a medium width.
One change I’m happy about is I can now wear tall boots in a regular calf and western boots —I used to need wide calf.

I thought about it, but in the past, any time I wore a 9.5 wide, it seemed to fit okay in the store, but gave me blisters when I got home with them. Never had that issue with 10s. Now my feet slip out of 10s and the 9.5 normal widths are just right.

Yep, lost 50 pounds and went down a shoe size. It seemed to take a little longer for the loss to take effect in my feet, or maybe I just didn't notice it.

My feet got narrow again (like they were when I was a kid) after losing 40 pounds. I really need to buy some new ballet flats with elastic around the ankle. Mine flap around like flip flops.

I haven't changed size, but the width of my feet has changed going from a UK EEE to a normal width. I can finally wear ballet flats, having lost 77lbs

Don’t think so, because I have designer shoes from the 80s & 90s that still fit me and my current shoe purchases are the same size. When I was 30 lbs heavier *everything* was tight on me. Including my shoes and jewelry.

I gained a lot of weight in a short amount of time and my shoes all became too tight. Most I re-homed, but I kept a few faves. Hopefully they'll fit again soon!

For some reason, I have had small narrow feet always, even when I was at 307 lb. I used to have swelling in my feet and ankles sometimes back then (at heaviest) but still only wore 7.5 shoes. Now I wear 7-7.5 after losing 130 lb...6.5 in sandals because of my short toes.

I have noticed flip flops (not my fav style of sandal in the first place) don't fit me well anymore. They are hard to keep on my foot & even though I have pretty high arches, I have to kind of arch my foot awkardly to walk in most flip flop styles. I found some North Face boys' flip flops that fit tightly enough to stay on when walking a lot, so those are good for the pool/beach.

I also wore a size 5 ring at 280 lb...now a 3.5 ring. So I guess I just have weirdly small feet and hands! Especially for a 5'8" broad-hipped woman. I've been a little insecure about that since my teens, honestly. Usually in the shoe aisle, size 7 section most women are several inches shorter than me, and most women around my height seem to wear a 9 or 10.
