I've started jogging/running at the gym and outside. I wasn't exactly sure how to begin but I'm now walking at 3.2 for two minutes and then running at 5.0 for two minutes, for a total of thirty minutes. Do you think this is a good to way to approach it? TIA.

Most defiantly! I did the couch to 5K program and it is great! It comes as an app, a free podcast, and a plan on coolrunnings.com

The first 2 weeks seem almost too easy, but they are easy for a reason. It is to start your body moving on a schedual and warming you up. Once week 4 hits, its on like Donkey Kong! So don't burn out quickly by jumping ahead.

Also, the app Couch to 10K is great if your fitness level is higher and would like to do longer workouts.
  • C25K program is amazing!
  • I am on day 3 of c25k and its been great. I don't feel like I will kill over any moment like I did when I tried just straight out running. Downloaded the app and the chimes of when to change from walk to run and back make all the difference in the world...esp. when your listening to your playlist in the background. Feel free to friend me and we can share grumblings :)

    C25K is an awesome program
  • Cool beans! Just what I need. How long does it take to go from couch to 5k? Is it different for everyone? Guess I will have to look it up.

The program is 9 weeks by design, but some people have to repeat weeks, while other can skip weeks.

Can you listen to your own music in conjunction with the app? I tried C25K several years ago and I found the music on there annoying. TIA.

I did the podcast version because I liked the music. However, there are apps that you can listen to your own music. There has to be like 6 different apps in the app store that all have the same program but different ways of doing it.
  • My music works fine as long as I turn it on before I start the c25k app.
