Gaining weight instead of losing it :(

Hey guys
Been using my fitness pal for the last fortnight and sticking to 1200 (usually less) calories a day as well as doing water aerobics twice a week and using the gym twice (cycling, rowing, x trainer & walking uphill on running machine) for an hour or so.
I have noticed my clothes getting a bit loser on me but I don';t weigh myself, so I started to using my wii fit. Apparently I have put on 9lb since I last went on (216 days ago) not sure how true this is but couldn't be sure as so long ago so decided to weigh myself again today and have gained 2 lb since last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this happening?? I understand muscle weighs more then fat but surely for me to slim down I need to be shedding lbs not gaining?

Measure yourself week to week instead of day to day.0

You're not eating enough. 1200 cals is the bare minimum you should consume, when you exercise you need to eat more than the 1200 in order to net 1200. Also, drink more water. Water is so key!!!0

Yes a for sure motivator killer, weighing daily. DONT DO IT! The scale fluctuates normally day to day 2-5 pounds. Pick a day and stick to that day and time if you can once a week only.0

dont be disheartened hunny if your clothes feel looser then something good must be happening, have you tried measuring inch loss instead of weight loss as sometimes muscle gain can mean the pounds dont drop but the inches do0

Since you are doing so much exercise maybe you are building more muscle? Muscle weighs more than fat. So you are burning fat, but building muscle.0

I agree, you need to eat more. I eat my 1200 cals a day and on days I excercise, I eat half of the calories I burned back. Some days I even eat all of them. This prevents your body from holding on to any energy you give it.0

Not possible on a calorie deficit.

Weigh yourself ONCE yes ONCE a week...same day, same time of day...(morning in the nudie after wee is best)
Measure your waist, hips and thighs ONCE every two weeks..yes ONCE every two weeks.
Your female...you'll go up and down as the month progresses...try not to let that worry you
I eat around 1000 - 1200 calories per day and it's been BRILLIANT for my weight loss!!

Sorry should have said, I am getting a net of calories. For example. today my goal was 1200, I consumed 1244 but worked off 132 leaving me with 1112 and 88 remaining for the day x0

i think people were saying you aren't eating enough, you should have at least 1200 net calories for the day. so if you eat 1400 and burn off 200, you're still at 1200 which is good.
my first thought would also be you're not eating enough if you're very active. how is your sodium intake? that could be a factor contributing to some weight gain.0 -

Do not be discouraged. You're gonna go through a period where you're gaining muscle that will burn away the fat. I think weight is a misleading measure anyways. If I turned all this fat into solid muscle and maintained the same weight, I'd be one happy dude... and playing for the NFL. How often are you eating?
btw, if I stop working out for a couple days, I always end up dropping at least a pound.

Oh yeah... check out how much salt you're taking in. Salt makes the body hold onto water. You might want to customize your columns to include that info.0

I eat a normal 3 meals a day with a snack or 2 in between x0 -
Muscle does not weigh more than fat. Muscle is more dense and takes up less space. Many times people overestimate calories burned and underestimate calories consumed. Try to pick a time to weigh yourself like in the mornings. Keep your head up, you'll find what works best for you. Don't give up.0

I know how you feel I eat very healthy, workout daily and don't lose but I just keep trying!! Plateaus are very hard to overcome. You have to change up your diet and workouts often which I know is one of my problems because I can't afford a gym. I have to use what I have at home. Also age is a factor, I'm getting to that time of life that makes it so hard to lose. Don't give up because I'm not going to. Either way we are healthier for what we are doing and the plateau won't last forever! Also, don't weigh everyday when you are losing, stick to the same day every week. If your clothes are loose you are losing inches which is just as important! Keep at it!0

I don't know if I would put a lot of trust in a wii fit as your scale. I have seen different reports on accuracy, and if you are seeing wide fluctuations, it easily could be the culprit (especially when used on carpet). You might want to invest in a better scale. No need to have added frustration because your scale is inconsistent, body weights fluctuate enough without adding more variables.0
