I am trying to get into Yoga and I am a little intimidated by the actual classes as is my fiance. I can't for the life of me find one close by that doesn't make the room 90 degrees or more. I wanted to find a DVD that offers more of a workout than a spiritual style of yoga.

Any suggestions?

I have 15 years of ballet in my very distant past but he's a total beginner.

I have fallen in love with these free videos:

  • Hulu.com has a lot of yoga programs you can watch online for for free.

Netflix, too, if you have a subscription with streaming video.

my absolute faves I've had for at least ten years are MTV's yoga and power yoga. Both ar long workouts, about 45 mins. It's got a great instructor that explains things, nice music that's not new agey thanks to mtv and moves fast enough so that you won't get bored. MTV yoga's slower, more traditional and MTV power yoga's definitely a cardio workout, moves through poses quickly to get your HR up. Give 'em a try! I love them :o)

This website has a great synopsis of them (i also have MTV pilates. Great also!! they've get a great lineup)

I'm a stretching, relaxing, yoga person so I can't recommend anything specific for power yoga. Beginners can't go wrong with Sara Ivanhoe - Yoga Body Makeover. You will learn the poses, but not work up a sweat.

Hulu.com has a health & wellness channel with several yoga workouts

Netflix has TONS of yoga videos for rent - instant play just a few.

Exercistv.tv.com has some free instant views - I'm sure they have a yoga workout or 2

Acacia Lifestyle features several free videos every week - Yogini: Vinyasa Flow is available this week
