There are few things, first is I want to be in shape to do my job effectively and put out a good image, I want to look good for my wife, and keep up with my co workers who exercise. I will look back at old pics of me and remember why I'm doing this. I want to be in great shape when I'm older. I joined this site to keep me accountable, for support, and to motivate when I don't feel like going. I also take a break every once in a while and don't get upset if I miss a workout. I've also realized that I don't need marathon workouts, just going 20 minutes is better than making an excuse not to go because I can't workout for an hour. Good luck on reaching your goals.0

I find it very hard to stay motivated as well. I've been going 9 weeks with diet and exercise, and have only lost 5lbs. I have cut out ALL soda and almost eliminated fast food. The one thing that does keep me going is that I know I'm healthy inside. My starting cholesterol was 214 and my triglycerides were 249 (beginning of the year). I've gotten my cholesterol down to 154 and my triglycerides down to 152.0

I think that it is too easy to look at the numbers on the scale as a reflection on your progress, especially early on. If you are eating better, drinking lots of water and getting some exercise you are kicking butt. Don't "diet", change your lifestyle so that it becomes second nature to eat well and exercise.
I keep motivated knowing that no matter what, I am working towards a goal that will improve my quality of life. I don't keep motivated by thinking of how many kilos/pounds I'll lose if I keep going; that is a bonus that can sometimes get in the way of seeing the internal improvements that are occurring (like Aubrey mentioned).0 -
Thank you all for your replies, it sounds like I need to come up with an alternative goal than the standard one that people say around me. What does everyone do for exercise my fitness level is really low.
Thanks again0 -
Walking is a great way to get started.

This! What a lovely reply.
I find if I'm doing activities with other people then I stay motivated. I play badminton twice a week, it's loads of fun and a really good work out, plus you don't have to do it alone.
Are there any sports you like?0
