I do hit the gym occasionally..but I loath fitness equipment in general, and wouldn't purchase a workout vid (since I don't have tv...haha).
My fave fitness activities include:
Running\
Hiking
Climbing
Rowing
I'd like to know if there are others here who don't need/use "tech" to get thier exercise on!

You're missing resistance training!
My workouts are 100% gym free. I do:
Running
Biking
Jumping rope.
Pushups, situps/crunches, squats, lunges, leg raises, pullups, chinups, planks, and other body-weight exercises.
I want to start swimming one of these days, but I only have a pool available to me memorial day through labor day.0 -

Jumping Rope
Hula Hooping (they make weighted hula-hoops that really work your core)
What about team sports? Join a softball, soccer, or basketball league. I practice soccer with my daughter and it is a great workout.
Golf, driving range0 -
Me too!
I don't mind lifting some weights at home, but I can't stand to do any sort of cardio on a machine. I much prefer to go running or biking or hiking. I'm actually thinking of starting to play some ultimate frisbee in a park near my house.
I totally agree that climbing is an excellent total body workout. It's actually my favorite workout in general.0 -

I agree! The gym is somewhere I go when the weather is awful. Otherwise, I like to exercise outside. I especially love hiking.0 -
Werd yo!
My routine is...
mostly biking (road and mountain)
some running (pavement and trail)
a little swimming (pool and open water)
skiing in the winter0 -
I rarely use the gym, actually I haven't used it all summer! The weather is perfect for exercising outside. I do weight training at home too, then I am not waiting to use the weights
I do have a fitness DVD - Davina one. But I tend to dip in and out of that now. And I have a yoga DVD which I love. I occassionally go to a class but I like to do yoga a few times a week and classes can be expensive if you want to go more than once a week.
I will probably use the gym more during winter, I run at 6.30am! So it gets pretty cold! Lol
Sometimes I think my gym membership is a waste...I am considering getting rid of it, but am going to hold on to to through winter and see how much I use it.0 -
I sooooo miss outside.... Normally, I bike, walk, jog, swim, and hike, but this summer has been awful. I live in TX. It's insanely hot, staying in the 90's even overnight. Due to drought, all lakes are low, nearly dry, and water restrictrions have forced pools to close. I never thought I'd want summer to end. I've had to break down and buy some workout dvd's. They're fun, but I can't wait to get back out there!0
