Water intake does not affect fat loss. Your water levels fluctuate during weight loss. Sometimes your body retains more water and other times it retains less, so that can affect the scale. But that is fluid and tends to go up and down.

But in terms of actual fat loss, the only thing that matters is the number of calories you take in vs the number of calories your body burns. The amount of water you drink does not affect it (although some find that if they drink more water, they dont feel as hungry, which allows them to eat less calories).

Drinking enough water can certainly be be beneficial for a number of reasons, but weight loss is about calorie deficit.

You only need more water if you are not properly hydrated which can be determined by you mid morning and later urine color (it should be faintly yellow not dark). As @MikePTY mentioned it does not directly impact fat weight loss.

Water weight is DEFINITELY a thing, especially if you weigh every day.
