Hi I’m 19 years old and I’ve been severely depressed for many years. I’m at a point where my weight has become my biggest issue/my main focus. I want to become healthier and happier and not worry so much about how I perceive myself and if others see me the same way. Any support would be gladly appreciated, Thank you :)

Sorry to hear this. I’ve been where you are and I can tell you the best thing you can do for your mood is exercise and eat well and stay away from alcohol. Are you seeing a counsellor? I found talking therapy really helpful and it’s extra support for you. Feel free to add me for support. Take care x

I've struggled with depression my entire adult life. It's made losing weight difficult, to say the least. What has helped me most is counseling. Speaking to a therapist and getting my head right helped me to approach things differently. I was also able to start taking medication (in my case, Wellbutrin), which helped a ton. I'd recommend speaking to a professional on a regular basis, which should help you get in the right mindset to accept and love yourself enough to lose weight for the right reasons (for you instead of for the sake of what other people think of you).

Good luck. Stay strong. It gets better. So much better!
