I completely understand this. How far away from your goal are you? Regardless, I find that too much restricting in diets tends to lead to this feeling. Have you tried incorporating foods you like in a way that allows you to meet your daily/weekly calories? This could help, unless certain foods trigger binges for you and they're difficult to have in small amounts.2

Self control issues with me usually stem from hunger.
If I am at home and feeling peckish or wanting a snack it can be really hard to not reach for the biscuits etc.
To counter this I try to make sure my main meals keep me full, so bulk them out with veg etc that has a lasting effect on satiety (for me at least). That way I get that snacking urge far less, and consequently have to exercise self control far less.
Its much easier when its infrequent!
That aside, Im a big fan of food swaps, finding alternatives to those calorific treats I may not have the allowance for. Could be as simple as grabbing an apple instead of a bag of crisps, or it could be as simple as grabbing a chocolate to satisfy your sweet tooth - but a smaller one.
The chocolate bars we buy the kids for their lunch are around 100 cal, they are sweet and tasty and providing I make the effort to enjoy them they satisfy that choccy urge.
Compare to a large snickers or something that I would previously have gone for and its no bad thing at all.1 -
From your post I am wondering how long you have been on this journey. If it has been five or six months you might want to consider a diet break. The diet break is not a no holds barred eating fest. It's simply eating at maintenance for a week or two. This accomplishes a couple of things. It helps to restore your leptin levels, reduce cortisol and allows you to eat a few extra calories. I did one when I plateaued for a long time and it helped.
The next thing to look at is the macro breakdown of your foods. Some people find if their carb intake is really high and their protein is too low they get hungry faster. I happen to be one of those people. You may or may not be. When I find I'm hungry all the time I generally can track it back to too many carbs. I will then increase protein and make sure I'm getting lots of veggies for the fiber. That often resolves it for me. Good luck.6 -
how long have you been at this?
how restrictive are you being? have you removed most foods you enjoy in efforts to eat "clean and healthy"? are you eating too little?3 -
It's been mentioned, but how long have you been on this journey?
If you're relatively new (0-2) months, then being too aggressive with caloric and exercise goals may be to blame here. If you've been on the journey any longer, what about your eating options is driving you crazy?2 -

What eating options are you struggling with?
How much weight have you lost since January, and what are your height and weight?0
