So i have my fitbit steps attached to myfitnesspal and when it updates to my 10,000 goal it adds like an extra thousand calories to the good. Is that normal??

Seems like a lot. My burn for 10k steps usually doesn't get higher than 600 cals. I guess it depends on how much you weigh?0

It's an independent estimate of your TDEE based on the total activity detected throughout the day and would be fully corrected at midnight (it will reduce if you're inactive late at night closer to midnight)2

If you walk about that much per day I would suggest adjusting your activity level out of sedentary and more towards your actual activity level that way you get less dramatic adjustments later in the day.
You'll get numbers like that if for example you walk mostly in the morning, but you'll see that adjustment go down if your sedentary the rest of your day.1
