I feel like ive been defeated to many times.

I've been trying to lose weight for so long. I keep failing and honestly, it's even thrown me into a bit of depression. I started out at 356. I'm now 337. But I'm stuck here and I'm not sure how I can get out. I've tried so much in my journey. I've tried going cold turkey and cutting everything and working out hard in the gym. But I found that when I'm under stress I eat and I have a very stressful job. Also because my job is kind of stressful, I find it hard to go to the gym after a long day of hard work. (Thinking about getting a treadmill for home). Then I tried a new approach. Starting off slow, cutting out soda first, excersising only if I feel up to it and not going crazy with the junk food. Also trying to stay inside my calorie goal. And that pretty much got me to where I am now. But I just got done with a binging spree because I found that I'm stuck at 337 and it discouraged me so much. (Been stuck for over a month) so I went out and bought junk. Now that it's all eaten up and out of the house I find myself desperately wanting to lose weight again. But I find myself wantinv to rush it, cut everything out cold turkey again and repeat the same pattern. So I'm asking for advice. What in the world should I do to start losing again. (Thankfully I haven't gained much from my junk food spree. Maybe a pound.)

I need something that fits onto my lifestyle. I work in heslthcare. early early mornings. 4:30 am to 4pm. By the time I get home, I just want to shower, unwind and go to bed. But I'm also on the move alot during the day so I'm also looking for ways to eat time efficiently. Lately because of money issues we've been having to eat meals like spaghetti that lasts a while (leftovers) and buy on the cheaper, processed kind of foods.

I'm just looking for advice. ANY advice. And reassurance?

Stalls can be maddening, but they are not worth the negative energy you're putting into yours.

Focus on completing your food diary. I find that filling mine out a few days in advance doesn't allow me to feel lazy about it or get frustrated.

    Drink your water.

    Weigh yourself daily.

Get rid of crap food in your home.

Repeat this mantra. I am worth it. <3

Aww, I feel your pain. It's taken me a year and a half to lose 38 lbs. For some reason I didn't give up this time and made peace with averaging a half pound loss per week. It turns out that what works for me isn't what is right for everyone. I have learned that carbs triger my hunger, so I minimize carbs and am su re to eat any carbs with protein. Lean proteins, vegetables and a small amount of fat are the basis of my diet. I log on MFP even when I slip. One day I ate a sleeve of cookies and instead of giving up, I logged every one and then divided the amount of calories I was over for the day --I think it was about 700 calories. So If I didn't screw up again for 10 days--I had to work off and extra 70 calories a day for 10 days. I don't believe the math always translates into the exact weight loss. I'm 60 and the math doesn't come out exactly for me. Anyway, if I want to splurge, I know try to keep the spurges to every 7-10 days and then work it off. When I really want something, I tell myself I can have it but try to delay a day. All my splurges are now planned, so I don't follow impulses everyday. If I really want a brownie, I check with myself the next day to see if that's what I really want. If so, I plan for it.
Having said all that, I just went on a cruise and we had the drink package thrown in --I was so nervous to come home and weigh in--gained 3 #. So, I've been home 3 days and have done 3 /1000 calorie days to get myself back on track. Then I'm going to do two 1200 cal days followed by one 1000 calorie day. It should take me about 3 weeks of this pattern to loose the three lbs--and I feel confident I can do this. One more thing --if you are still reading. For me, I found the advice to never let yourself get hungry didn't work. I read the Beck diet plan, which is behavior modification. I discovered that hunger goes away, so I have days where I try to go until late in the day without eating because I'm not hungry if the morning. If I eat breakfast, I start thinking about food all day long. I wait until sometime between 10am and 3pm to eat. When I get really hungry, I sometimes make myself wait 20 minutes and sometimes I'm eating at 21 minutes, and sometimes I get distracted and two hours go by. All these details are meant to say--no one has the answer for what will work the best for you. I found the Behavior Modification in the Beck Plan both infuriating and effective. I discovered a way to lose weight after decades of failure. I'm losing slowly, and I'm just going to have to be okay with that, because that's the only way I've had success. After I loose the 3 lbs--I'm going to up my calories to between 1300 and 1600 with an occasional low cal day to shake up my metabolism.
I bet you have some strategies that you know work for you. Tell me about them and claim your power. Best, ALJ
