Help! Not losing

I've been tracking my food religiously for 3 weeks now. My daily calorie intake averages between 1300-1400. Went over by 700 one day 2 weeks ago, apart from that have been really really strict. I'm seeing a personal trainer and workout 3 times per week for an hour at least. Average sleep is 7 hours per night.

I'm 163cm (5"3). My weight started at 84.4kg (186lb) it went down to 82.3kg (181lb) over 3 weeks but it's back up to 84kg today.

I've been doing strength training for the first time so I'm wondering if the inflammation associated with lifting weight can affect weight loss. Also hurt my back lifting my son a couple of days ago so wondering if inflammation in my lower back could be the cause of increase.

It's frustrating because I've never been this strict or motivated before. I'm really really trying to stay positive but feeling down hearted today.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Orla

A new exercise regime can cause you to retain water; that affects weight, but not actual fat loss. So can the menstrual cycle, high-sodium foods, changes in your daily routine, stress, illness, and as far as I can tell the current position of Aldebaran in the night sky...

Don’t worry about the odd fluctuation :)

i am always amazed at how sodium- even just one salty meal- or ibuprofen can add a couple pounds of water weight. And of course TOM. Keep at it.

I cant tell you how many times I feel discouraged too. Hugs- this day will pass & you will feel better.
