losing weight

I am a seventy year old man and i am pretty much sedentary, I have been on a 1600 calorie diet for a year and still can't lose weight anyone have any suggestions for me

Maybe see a doctor to put you on the right course and rule out medical reasons. They can work out your bmr and help you get on the right track.2

Yes, are you using a food scale to know for certain that you're really eating 1600 calories?1

* make it a rule to go for a walk each day
* make sure you log everything you eat and as said above, use a food scale, to make sure you are logging correctly
* track your weight at regular intervals once a week or once every two weeks - there might be fluctuations that you are not aware of2
