I was thinking of buying the aerogarden so I can always have fresh veggies and herbs in the house and was wondering if anyone else has this and how they like it........

What is an aerogarden? That sounds cool.

It's a tabletop unit that uses seed pods to grow herbs, lettuce, cherry tomotoes, even fresh flowers...all without chemicals.

My daughter was going to get her boyfriend one for Christmas (he is a chef) and I did some checking into them. Apparently there was a problem with the motor going out on them. I am not sure if they fixed the problem but a lot of the people who had bought them said they had to keep replacing the motor. The company replaced it for free but they had to pay shipping for sending it back AND there was the inconvenience of not being able to use it while it was broken. Do some research on the internet and see if the problem has been fixed yet. A lot of the people on this site (I wish I had saved it but I didn't sorry) said they loved it other than the motor problem. Hope this helps.

    Thank you:happy:
  • I've been using one for about 4 weeks now and growing tomatoes. I have the 3 pod one and you can only grow veggies with veggies and herbs with herbs. So, unless I get another unit, my fresh herbs will have to wait until my tomatoes are done.

I want to get two of them... how much do the replacement nutrient pellets cost? Do you end up saving money or losing money in the long run? I've been wanting to get them for awhile but haven't really seen any genuine reviews.

So is it working good for you?

I was cosidering one of these too or the rectangular buckets that come with special food and watering system. I actually bought Gardening 123 from Home Depot to consider planting a garden like I used to have as a kid, but it's not hot in FL yet but will be blazing soon and I have to be realistic if I'm up for that big of a commitment.

My big issue is that I have no yard, no windowboxes, no anything to grow food in - PLUS we've been having odd growing seasons. So, indoor growing is my only option - and an aerogarden seems cheaper and easier to set up than a hydroponics system.

southern living just came out with an edition that tells you how to do container garden---I am doing one with a metal rack by the window and a grow light---have the seeds ready to put in the pots--wil start this weekend---this will be the year I WILL have a vegetable /herb garden!! WAYYYYY cheaper than those expensive garden things open the curtains or get a gro light and a rack--more produce!
I have a friend who has a bountiful supply of herbs year round doing this!

  • So far so good - my plants are growing nicely and it's pretty mindless - it tells you when to add the nutrient tablets which come in the kit and when to add water.
