Can I ask a silly question -
When putting in measurements for MFP for grains (like rice, barley, etc) and beans, are the nutrional values before or after you cook it? I'm assuming it's after.
Practical example:
So when putting in a recipe fore barley, I measured out 1 cup. It's going to yield 3 cups cooked. So, when I put it in MFP do I put in 3 cups or 1 cup?
I feel silly asking. I should know the answer, so can set me straight once and for all??
Thanks. :ohwell:

I put "barley" in the MFP food database, and it lists both cooked and uncooked. Try typing in "barley uncooked." It will show only uncooked. If I was putting it in a recipe, that's what I would use. If I was just dishing it out of a pan onto my plate, I would search for "barley cooked."0

the amount that you eat that is actually cooked... if you eat 3 cups of cooked barley, put that... but that seems like a lot for one person

Some database entries specify cooked or raw -- I stick to those. A lot of the data is there is wrong either way. Always double check and cross reference.0

Yes - it's going to last several meals for me and my family.
Thanks so much!!0 -
For the recipe builder I would put it in as uncooked.0
