Never give up! I'm 72 and that's my new motto. The last time I lost weight was 7 years ago and I lost 40 lbs. In 2012 I started at 179 lbs and went down to 139. I did that by using a FitBit, the program that eventually became myfitnesspal (don't remember the name), exercising daily and tracking everything. It took me about 8 months. When I hit 140 my husband said "this has been such a big undertaking, and you deserve to give yourself some slack. I think you look fine at 150." So I allowed myself to eat ice cream again. Then candy. Then more carbs. It took about 5 years to get to 165. So I've been looking at 165-168 now for a couple of years. My blood tests show my cholesterol and glucose are too high. I'm 5'6", so I don't look fat and my doctor says my weight is in the high normal range. However, I have a small frame so I know I should weigh less. When I went shopping in Paris recently I couldn't find anything that fit, without going to American stores like The Gap.

Two weeks ago I started using myfitnesspal again with a renewed commitment. I've lost 8 lbs and I'm down to 157. I did it by watching my sugar intake more than my calories. I set the max at 25g. The calories worked out right around 1200. Before a meal I make up a tentative meal plan and plug it in. If macros look good and it's low in sugar, then that's my meal. My goal is to lose 1 lb per week for the next 5 months. That will put me at 137 by December 1. By the time I go back to Paris next spring I hope to be happily shopping in the vintage shops and finding some great buys.

I am 69 and have started ad stopped My Fitness Pal with no real progress to speak of. I have been about 110 lbs overweight for almost 20 years. My knees are now shot and due to other medical conditions, it has been a struggle to find a doctor willing to operate. I finally did find one, but need to lose some weight first. So here I am. I started back at the end of May and so far have lost 15 lbs I can't really exercise on my feet yet, but have found a You Tube video for seniors I plan on trying. I am encouraged; find that logging in food is challenging. but enjoyable and hope to continue on the right path. For years I have been kidding myself about my appearance because I am fairly attractive, wear expensive clothes and nice jewelry, but my husband's recent heart issues have shown me that good health is most important, and he said I could buy all new clothes as needed. Yup, age is not excuse to give up being healthy.

You’ve lost 15 lbs in one month? That’s spectacular! I’d be really encouraged if I were you. I actually like logging in food. My breakfasts are always the same so that’s easy. I realized today that all of a sudden I have a lot of energy. Maybe because I just got over a cold, or maybe because I’ve reduced my sugar so much in the last 2 weeks. Good luck! You are more beautiful Han 10% there in just one month!
