120 lbs and an Apron Tummy to lose!

Hey, y’all! I’m new here and just starting my journey. Bought a treadmill a week ago and have been doing 2 miles at 3mph a day at incline. I’ve lost a pound! Only 119 more to go. Haha My biggest issue is eating properly. I have no IDEA how to do that. Super hard when the kids only want to eat chicken nuggets & mac n cheese and we’re on a tight budget 🙈 I also can’t seem to quit the Mountain Dew. 😭 My main goal is shrinking this “mother’s apron” tummy. I plan on doing cardio for the first few months and adding weight training after I’ve lost about 30-40 lbs. Any tips or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

    H, I think we may have similar weight loss goals (mine are SW 250, CW 220 with a GW of somewhere in the lower 130's). You can do it! This site is really great. Even on a bad day logging is helpful. Meal prepping a day or two in advance helps, as does entering my food BEFORE I've eaten. I seem to stay accountable to myself that way. I don't do it every day but on days I know I may be tempted it's useful. For the MT. Dew have you tried seltzers water? Drinking flavored seltzer waters helped me quit pop a few years ago.

    I started at 283 with a goal of 160-170. currently about 195.


    You can do this!!! start tracking what you eat. Figure out a calorie goal and try to stick to it. You can fit the Mountain Dew, chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese into your calorie goal!

    @Samantharavenclaw84 Yes! SW(CW) is 252 and my GW is 130! I’m also a Ravenclaw, so there’s that. 😊 I will definitely try seltzer water. Thank you both!

    I am starting again at 288 pounds, so 120 would be a perfect loss. Please add me.

    Welcome! There's no reason you can't fit chicken nuggets and Mac & cheese into your calorie goal, just weigh out your portion and bulk it up with frozen veggies. And Diet Mountain Dew rocks :smile:

    Weight loss is just the first step; then comes maintenance. Learning portions (and calories) for "regular" foods is going to be super helpful for maintenance.

    If you struggle with sugar free beverages, it definitely gets better over time.

    Like SamanthaRaven said......log the good and the bad. Seeing all the numbers helps you make an educated choice. Trying to fit regular soda into a small calorie budget is painful but it can be done.

    I don't eat chicken nuggets/strips as often as I once did but they were a staple early in my weight loss effort. I didn't eat a lot of mac n cheese because I don't like the blue box and I am not going to make it from scratch unless it is the really good stuff which is high calorie. I can make it fit with a small portion but then even making a small batch some will end up in the freezer and never be as good again.

    Baby steps. Work those foods into your daily calorie goals and do the diet Dew.
