so i am 5'7 and weigh 130lbs. my goal weight is 120lbs and to get more toned. However i can NOT lose any more weight no matter what. i gain or lose a lb every once in a while depending on what i eat but i always return to 130lbs. so today i changed my goals to lose a 1/2lb a week instead of one a week. is this a good idea? i am worried i am going to gain weight if i eat more since my body is used to eating less. i find that because i am eating healthier i can eat more food with less calories so i do not always use all of my calories unless i have a cheat day and eat something not so healthy. is anyone else set to lose only 1/2lb a week and does this work for you? also i work for about 4hours tues wed and thur. and ten hrs mon and friday i so not work sat and sun. i get up in the morning get the kids ready, get my oldest to school, go to the gym, take my youngest to daycare, get ready, go to work, pick kids up, run errands, and then cook dinner. at night i am usually on the couch doing homework. is this active or lightly active lifestyle?

Maybe your body is more comfortable at 130. IMO, 120 seems a little light for someone 5'7". I am 5'6" and my ideal weight is 145. Anywhere below that I look sick. I have also set the goal to loose 1/2 lb a week. I did not think that I could abide by the calorie intake for 1 lb a week, so I chose what I knew that I could handle. Also, I don't have but 5 lbs to loose, so I am not in a hurry. I am just trying to train myself to control my protions. I think that you will be fine at 1/2, but really I think that you should just maintain. But you know your body best and what you want. Also, looking at your daily activities, I would say that you have an active lifestyle.0

I am set at half pounds per week. Granted I have alot to lose yet, but I find that if I try to lose too fast my body shuts down fat loss. But you do seem pretty thin already. Maybe you should go to the docs office and get your body fat tested.0

What is your body fat percentage? If you know that, then you can figure out what your lean mass is. Instead of going for a number on the scale that someone else says you should be... you can figure out what body fat percentage you want to be at and then use that to figure your goal weight.
For example, I am 5'6.
I know that three weeks ago I was at 37% body fat. My goal used to be to get to 140 pounds.
Knowing what I weigh, and knowing my body fat percentage, I know that my lean muscle is 128 pounds. So even if I got down to 18% body fat, which is pretty low for a woman, I would STILL be at 150 pounds.
To get to 140 pounds I'd have to be at 10% body fat, and that is lower than what is healthy.
Make sense?
I think you should get your body fat parentage calculated, to see if you can even get down to 120 pounds and still be healthy.
God bless!0
