Hi All
Just wondering when logging your weight of potatoes on mfp do you do them by the raw weight or cooked weight?
I have always been doing it raw weight but wondered what I should be doing.
For example, I have used some normal sized potatoes today to make mashed potatoes, so not sure whether i log them on here as boiled potatoes or mashed?!?
Thanks

I think if you add other ingredients to the potatoes when mashed, then add them as mashed potatoes. Another idea would be to put it in your recipes and that way you get the true amount of calories. Not everyone makes them the same way and the reality is we don't know how much has been added afterwards. So that's why I write it on my recipe list. I sure hope this helps

I would add the potatoes as raw weight because if you boil them you'll get extra weight and mfp could count that as extra carbohydrates and not simply water. Like the other lady said everyone prepares foods differently, so you should create your own recipe, you should be able to come across the uncooked nutritional infomation of foods.
