Does anyone swear by metabolic type dieting? How did you determine your metabolic type?

A quick google search shows that this is a modified version of the Atkins diet, which works by restricting certain foods. The weight loss is due to cutting out typically calorie dense foods and creating a calorie deficit. It has nothing to do with your metabolism.
If you think cutting out those food groups might be helpful, you can do so, but know that it's just basic calories in, calories out that's making it work.6 -
I don't believe in "metabolic types", so no.
I just did this:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10636388/free-customized-personal-weight-loss-eating-plan-not-spam-or-mlm/
And lost around 50 pounds, obese to healthy weight, in just under a year, while hypothyroid (<= not a metabolic type!), at age 59-60, without significantly changing my exercise routine from what it had been for at least a decade beforehand. Have done the same to stay at a healthy weight for 3 years since.
YMMV.4
