Acid reflux/heartburn. I just found out I have a small hiatal hernia, but it doesn't cause me any issues until I get overweight.
I have 80% fewer headaches.
My cycles are regular for the first time since my teens (also shorter, bah, but close to normal at 26-27 days).
Sadly, still need my low dose of blood pressure medication to stay in the normal range there, but it's definitely easier to control now.
12 -
Severe migraines with residual pain for 2-3 days (used to have them every 1-3 months and now it's been years since my last one)
Swelling feet/ankles, particularly in warm weather
Plantar fasciitis
Heartburn (used to be at least weekly, now maybe twice a year)
I also experience lower back pain for less time (2 days versus 2 weeks) and FAR less frequently
11 -
Type II diabetes. High cholesterol. High blood pressure. Inability to do more than one pull up. Snoring.10

I'm still obese mind you, but after losing 30 lbs my chronic cough is completely gone.
The bursitis in my ankles, which was kinda always recurring, totally gone also.
My cholesterol is still high but down by half.12 -
Crippling arthritis in my perma-broken left ankle, and a damaged tendon in my right.
Both ankles are still damaged, but it turns out that this is much less of a problem when they're carrying significantly less than half the load. When I weighed 27 stone, I couldn't walk 200 yards without pain. Now that I weigh under 11, I frequently hike fifteen miles.11 -
Does any body notice less crakes heels/dry feet calused feet /armpits less darkened/ complexion got better folds getting smaller ?????6

- Blood pressure gone from borderline hypertensive to low end of normal range.
- No lymphedema flareups in over 2 years.
Now, I've also upped my activity, so I'm not positive that these next have anything to do with weight loss or whether they're purely the effect of being in better shape:- Fewer PMS symptoms overall, particularly reduction in bloating and cramping.
- Increased stamina and endurance.

Prediabetes gone.
Plantar fasciitis gone.
No lower back pain from herniated disks.
No more itching from liver problems caused by high fat diet.
Less migraines.
Although I still and always will have autoimmune issues, they're now taken more seriously because I don't get the "lose some weight and come back in 3 months" anymore. They're thoroughly addressed, and no mention of weight other than keep maintaining.10 -
I’m 5”5 and my starting weight was 184lbs. I’m now down to 142lbs and my ultimate goal is 134lbs. When I was at my heaviest, I had really bad knee pain (I’m 29 years old). I could barely bend down and get back up without my knees aching and feeling like they were going to give way. Since losing weight, I have absolutely no knee pain anymore. I don’t remember exactly when it disappeared but one day I just realised I had no pain anymore!8

I’ve stopped snoring, no more thigh chafing, and I can handle the heat way better.8

Was having bouts of tachycardia was taking beta blockers to prevent. Lost weight and stopped taking the meds and haven't had any issues. I also stopped snoring.4

Obese/overweight during much of childhood with much yo-yo-ing. Later in life developed dysautonomia/postural orthostatic hypotension; symptoms mitigated somewhat by being consistent with diet & lots of exercise (weight lifting with an emphasis on lower body especially helpful). By no means a cure/still need to use medication(s), but I often read about/talk with others with the same condition who are significantly less functional compared to myself & who are more reliant on meds that can not be discontinued without significant consequences (chronic corticosteroids mostly)2

I didn't really have some of these problems - but yes I have noticed my feet are in way better condition and they STAY in better shape. For example, in the past I would really work on my DIY pedicure every 2 weeks and had to scrape with PedEgg and moisturize every few days to keep from having very dry feet with calluses and heel cracks. Now I may do that every 5-6 weeks and they just stay nice, year round. I mostly just trim and polish my toenails and it's kind of weird to see that my feet stay nice now. (maintaining 120+ loss for nearly 6 years)5 -
High cholesterol that did not respond to medication.
High triglycerides that also did not respond to medication.
PCOS/borderline insulin resistance
Acid reflux
Migraines
The weight loss was part of this, but exercise was the other part. It's impossible to say how much was due to just weight loss and how much was due to just exercise.
I was able to stop all my medications when I lost about 50 pounds out of my 100 total. I haven't been on any prescriptions for about four years now.
I will say that I developed a new health problem after losing weight. I have Raynaud's syndrome, which makes my fingers get cold very easily and even go numb, so I always keep gloves with me. It seems to be a thing among some people who have lost a lot of weight, but that's only based on discussions here--I have not found any scientific studies on it. My best guess is that it has something to do with having far less insulation (i.e., fat) and the body's temperature regulating mechanisms trying to compensate for that.5 -

Dark skin under your arms or in other skin folds is called acanthosis nigricans and it can be a symptom of PCOS or other disorders related to insulin function. Adult acne is also a common PCOS symptom. PCOS is very common, and it increases the risk of various other things, so it's important to talk to your doctor if you think you have it. Weight loss can help, but there are also other treatments that may be appropriate if you have it.2 -
The Acid Reflux from hell is gone. No more humiliating public episodes, emergency roadside stops, or carrying sickness bags in the car.
Now that you mention it, heel cracking and rough feet is mostly gone.
CPAP in storage now.
Didn’t have to start the thyroid meds as prescribed after all- which is why I started this process
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more energy. Did I say waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more?
Newfound inability to stay seated for hours on end (unless it’s a really good book!)
More positive. That’s a definite bonus!

One more! I’ve had numerous yoga and Pilates instructors state that being able to both sit down and get up without using your hands is a measurement of future health and longevity. A friend who’s a director of nursing for a large hospital confirmed that’s a way nursing homes evaluate new patients, is if they need to use hands to get out of a chair.
I guess you could say there was a definite correlation between weight, exercising, and my ability to get up and down without hands.
Try it! Cross you arms Jeannie style so you can’t use your hands and try to lower yourself to the floor, and then get up!2 -
High cholesterol - gone. Good cholesterol - up.
"Pre-Diabetic" no more.
Off all prescription medication.
Can you say "Quality of Life?"
Sure you can!3 -
Knee and hip pain is gone, even when I wear heels.

I forgot about that one - couldn't wear heels when I was overweight. My feet complained WAY too much.2 -
I’ve lost 117 pounds in fourteen months. I was diagnosed with prediabetes in May 2018. I was determined to turn my health around so I cut out sugar, salt and simple carbs in order to control my blood sugar. My AIC at the time was 11.5 and my blood sugar was 579.
I recently had blood work done and my AIC dropped to 5.2 and FBS was 90. I no longer take diabetic medication but I still test once a day to stay on track.8 -
Such a GREAT question! With my 76lbs down, I've experienced sooooo MANY problems resolved. Here's some of them:
My eyesight is so much better--no more blurry vision, I RARELY wear glasses anymore.
My feet have shrunk 1 to 1.5 sizes, from an 8.5 to 7-7.5 shoes now
When I was obese and overweight, my poor husband used to wake up exhausted, telling me he couldn't sleep and when I would asked him why? He would hesitantly tell me my snoring kept him up all night. I don't snore anymore at all--that what he tells me.
I'm no longer pre-diabetic
Walking, even to the mailbox and up and down the stairs was so painful to me--no more at all.
My back used to hurt all the time, no more
my skin on my body used to be dry and dull and my face was, ummmm, dull and dark circles under my eyes all the time. Now my skin is soft and gorgeous and my face/complexion looks like baby's skin and no more dark circles under my eyes.
Getting in and out of the bath tub was a struggle and UGHish--I LOVE my bathtimes now, so much--no problems at all anymore.
A lot more stuff, but that's all I can think of now.
ETA: Oh! I just thought of one more. When I was obese and overweight I used to keep a GIANT sized bottle of Tums by my bed because I would either have heartburn ALL the time OR wake up with heartburn...it was terrible!!
I can't remember the last time I had heartburn, it's been soooo long!5 -
Heartburn,migraines,90% of PCOS symptoms and asthma gone!1
-
Pain from post traumatic osteo arthritis from my broken ankle, and swelling, has all disappeared, chronic heartburn has disappeared, hip pain has gone,1
-
Chronic tonsillitis when i was obese, not had it for over a year now. Used to get heartburn daily, can't remember the last time I did. PCOS symptoms drastically reduced!

When I was overweight I had irregular cells come up on my smear test. Heavy periods and constant cramping. Hormonal af. My hair, which is already too thick, started getting thicker and I am sure it gained sentience at some point. I've now lost 18lbs and all that has gone away, including the irregular cells and the crazy hair.3
