How to tight skin after weight loss

Most people, IMO, worry about loose skin beyond what will happen in reality**. Besides that, two things to know:

1. Some of us look worse part way to goal than at goal weight (because there's squishy fat still conspiring with gravity to keep skin stretched, and much of that fat will deplete at a sensible goal weight).
2. Many/most of us look worse when we reach goal weight than we will after some more time passes. Skin mostly shrinks more slowly than fat is lost, partly because some of it can't really much start shrinking until that gravity/conspiracy thing in point #1 is over and done. My skin kept shrinking well into year 2 of maintenance, and maybe even beyond, despite reaching goal weight at age 59-60 after decades of obesity. Now 63, I don't look different from most women my age who've been thin long term, even in shorts and a sleeveless top.

** I'd suggest looking at some of the threads in the Success Stories part of the MFP forums, where there are posts from people who've lost large amounts of weight, who show their before/after photos (sometimes even in bathing suits or the like). I'm not saying there's zero loose skin, but I think you'll be suprised how non-scary the outcome is, especially those who've been at goal weight for a while.
