I’m recently diagnosed with arthritis in both knees at age 37 due mostly to obesity. I’ve been swimming every day since I found out and personally I recommend it because it’s low intensity.

I've had both knees replaced. I know I was told not to run, there were no other exercises I was warned about. I probably wouldn't do heavy leg presses. I also find it extremely painful to kneel. My Ortho said that's the one thing that will never change and that the Orthos haven't figured out a way around that yet.

I would speak/listen to the Physios responsible for your rehab post surgery. Also, might be worth booking a few sessions with an experienced PT at your gym. If you do the exercises that are recommended, there is not a lot you won’t be able to do.
Using a bike set on low/medium resistance is also great. Gets the knees moving without the impact loading that jogging would result in. Also, very important to get into a stretching routine. Loads of good informative videos on YT.
For inspiration, I look to a fellow squash player at my club. Had his left knee replaced about 3yrs ago. Back on the court playing to a good level 6months post surgery. He is now in his mid 70’s and very fit & active. Still playing. About to have his right knee replaced this week.
