Hi! I was wondering if anyone out there is breastfeeding and doing MFP at the same time? Let just say, when I dieted before MFP, nothing happened. I have been on here for 2 weeks yesterday and lost 6 lbs! I couldn't beleive the scale!! I was hoping to find other mothers out there in the same boat and add them as friends for support with breastfeeding and weight loss at the same time. I am a 25 year old mommy to a 2 year old and 9 month old. And, if anyone has any tips on fighting the late snacking...it happens have I put the kids to bed and sit down to relax...my "second" stomach starts yelling at me! Thanks!

Be sure to add your extra nursing cals! If you search nursing or breastfeeding it should come up. Losing too fast could definitely affect your supply, just as a caution, especially if you're still hungry at night. Good luck!

I just joined, how do you add the extra nursing calories??? It said my daily calories should be 1330 but with nursing I know I need more than that
  • I am breastfeeding too and about to start tracking my diet. I get to start working out next week, so I know I'm going to have to make sure I'm getting enough calories to keep up my milk supply.

I nursed my oldest until he was 13 months and am now nursing my 2 month old. You can add breastfeeding to your food diary as negative calories. That way you still eat the extra calories you need for your milk supply without going over your daily goal.

Search foods for "making mommy's milk" and input it every am - will subtract 500 calories each day for you! I am nursing also & read that minimu calories for proper milk supply is 1800-2500/ day. Also keep your Net Calories no lower than 1200... But maybe that should be 1700 when you factor in nursing??? It's been trial & error for me, but I have lost 12 pounds in 50 days on here. Best wishes! Baby first, diet second! ;)
