Bar code scanner incorrect

I scanned a FIBER ONE bar yesterday and hamburger bun this morning. Both packages said 150 calories, but the scanner logged them in at 120. Does anyone know why this would occur or have had the same issue?

The scanner doesn't read the nutrition info off the package. It just reads the product name and then searches the MFP database for a similar named product just like it would if you typed it into the search bar. It probably found a bad entry. Or the formulation was recently changed and no one has updated it in the database yet.
Most entries are user created. Whether you are manually searching or using the scanner, you need to verify the info is accurate and if not choose a different entry or create your own.5 -

The entries are user entered. Also, many manufacturers change the recipe/formulations or labeling over time. My bread that I've bought for years changes all the time. It's annoying.
Check every item against the label. You can enter your own new item, edit the existing one or just play with the portions till they're close enough.

How do you create an entry in the database? Or edit an existing entry? I’ve never understood how to do this.1

Thank you! I thought I was just crazy. I assumed the scanner was 100% representation of what was scanned.
I'm just starting AGAIN but going to be diligent this time around. I have a big vacation after Christmas and don't want to be in the dressing room 3 days prior wondering what happened hehe! My goal is 40 pounds by Dec 28. Pretty lofty but I will give it my best!2 -

The "edit" is in that thread: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1234699/logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide/p1
To make a new food, go to MY FOODS, at the top is a green button that says, "Create food."0
