Count veggie calories?

So I've been making this salad for lunch this week. It is as follows:
Romaine lettuce
Cherub tomatoes(2 oz which is like 6-8 tiny ones)
Zucchini(1/4 of a normal sized one)
Broccoli(a few florets)
grilled chicken
light ranch
my question is, do you count the veggie calories in your daily total? I know they do have calories but they seem kind of obsolete to me. I have been counting the calories up to now but I hate to. I mean the lettuce ends up being like 30 calories, it just seems pointless since it's so good for me anyway. I do count calories in things like bananas and apples since they tend to have upwards of 100+

looking forward to your opinions.

Although in some plans veggies are "free", I do count them. I eat enough of them in a day to add 150-200 calories, at least. Since I'm new to this system, I want to be completely accountable. How this helps!
  • I know that they seem to be insignificant at times but I do count them. I eat a ton of veggies and throughout the week they do add up. If I didn't count them I think that over a week I would consume 500 more calories then I thought. I think that for the plan to work accurately, you should count every calorie that you consume.

If you don't want to enter them in just stay about 150 under a day to make up for it, on the days i count, which I have been doing bad about recording lately but when I do i count everything. I need to get back into it though and am going to try today. Good luck with yours though.

yep, count them. each little thing adds up ~ just like the 1/2 pounds and pounds we loose a week sometimes. :flowerforyou:

I count my rabbit food too because I eat more of it now then I ever did. I have had 4 servings of veggies today already and 3 servings of fruit, lord if I didn't I would be like above over by 500 cals!

    mmmmmmmmmm veggies.....

Yes I count veggies too. I find it easyist to make up the salad and make a meal of it then as I eat the same salad everyday for a few days I can easily add it . After a bit you will have a few salads in your meals to choose from.
You could also leave the dressing off if you tend to eat the same veggies but change dressings. then you only add your salad and dressing instead of every veggie seperatly.
