TRE (Time Restricted Eating) great success

Hi all
So for the past 20 days I have been teaching myself the ins and outs of TRE, although, I am but a mere beginner so any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.
I am on 16/8 sometimes this stretches into 19/5 but I do not seem to have any adverse feelings when this happens. In fact today was one of those long days and I still had my morning run without any issues. Is there any negative effects that might show up or am I good to go as long as I feel well?
In order to get my weight down I am also keeping to an 800 calorie day which sometimes over the weekend might creep up to a 1000 calories but I do not add in my exercise and calories burnt.
Currently I commute to work by bicycle every day and on top of that I run three days a week. Coming up August we will have a 4 day cycle tour with loaded bikes and I am interested to see how my body manages the extra output. At this stage I am planning to keep to the TRE but up the calories on those days.
ps: I have managed to lose 3kg in these 20 days.

You're not losing weight because you're time-restricting your eating, you're losing weight because you're eating far too little.
The minimum you should be eating every day is 1200 calories. That's a net 1200 calories, in other words eating back your exercise. If you're eating 800 calories a day, exercising, and not eating anything back, you are going to hit a wall of some very unpleasant side effects. You do not want that to happen during your cycle tour.
By the way, losing 3kg in 20 days is not a good thing. The healthy rate of loss for anyone but the very obese is about half that.8 -
Wow you're on very, very low calories, am I understanding this right, you stick to 800 cals net a day? Have to be honest with you, I don't think that's healthy. Apologies if I misunderstood your post though.
I've recently started IF 16/8 myself and I find it mostly helpful mentally, since now I don't have to "think" about food so much. I'm also trying to lose those last few stubborn pounds so I am restricting calories but I would not deliberately go below 1200 net calories.3 -

I am following the Fast 800 by Dr Michael Mosley and have read his book back-to-back before starting. I do not plan to eat like this forever, his suggestion is 12 weeks and then thereafter maintaining.
I agree Ceiswyn, on the bike I will have to up my intake and I will. From previous tours I sort of know what I burn in a day so will keep to a healthy intake.
At the moment I am functioning better both physically and mentally than I ever have. Would lime to lose another 15kg at least and using MFP I see for the first time actually how wrong I have been eating.10 -

Time Restricted Eating has no magical effects nor negative effects. It is a tool for controlling calories.
However, undereating had many negative effects. Malnutrition, hair loss, organ damage just to name a few. Mosley has a very questionable reputation and the advice you are following is just plain bad. If you are going to attempt a very low calorie diet, it should be under doctor supervision and not following some disreputable diet guru.

I actually really like Michael Mosley but restricting cals that drastically long-term just cannot be right. But if you think you know what you're doing, go for it. I don't think you'll find many like-minded people on this forum though, sorry.

OP as others have said the concept of condensing the time period for when you consume calories is something that is currently trendy but not particularly magical as is often advertised.
The concept of engaging in a VLCD is not trendy and not healthful whether you are doing it for a short period of time or not.
Set a reasonable goal based on the amount of weight you have to lose. If under 50 lbs, aim for 1 lb/week. If under 25 lbs, aim for 0.5 lb/week. MFP will recommend a NEAT goal which doesn’t include exercise. Plan your meals to hit the calorie goal, eating a variety of foods that you find satiating, nutritious and enjoyable. You can do this with TRE or just eating whenever you like, again nothing magical about a condensed time period. Log everything you eat as accurately and honestly as possible ideally using a food scale. When you exercise, log and eat back at least a portion of those calories. Be patient. Reduce your rate of loss as you get closer to goal.
I promise this will be an easier transition than eating 800 gross calories per day, exercising on top of it, and then suddenly expecting to seamlessly move to maintenance with double the calorie intake.6 -

Having said that, I plan to not let your input just wash over me.
Let me just be clear once again, I do not plan to live this way forever. For a few years now I have had a medical condition misdiagnosed which meant my eating and exercising went to the dogs and my overall health and fitness was non existent. It was only in April this year that the correct diagnosis was at last made and since then I have slowly been working towards a better solution and exercising more.
I do not need to lose huge amounts of weight fast but I do need to lose weight. I stopped using alcohol in 2017. Have been eating less sugar, dairy and meat and now picking up on my exercising again. I honestly feel the best I have felt in possibly 10 years.
So my question is then, if I understand the bulk of the comments correctly, the issue here is with the reduced calories and not the TRE. So if I dump the negative calories and eat back my exercise, is there any other red flags? Also I just want to point out that all my calories are freshly prepared food within the relevant nutrient levels. I dutifully fill in my daily food diary so I know exactly what goes into my mouth.5 -

No problem with TRE, IF or whatever someone wants to call it.
Big problem with eating less than 1200 NET! That is with exercise calories eaten. And for most people, that is still too little.
The quality of your food intake is of minor relevance if you are not eating enough. Is the degree of malnutrition somehow better? Malnutrition is malnutrition.7 -

Even a worse idea to be on a dangerously low calorie diet with an undiagnosed medical condition. Common sense alone dictates that.6

But in the UK the 800 calorie per day diet is supposed to be medically supervised.

The diet usually involves replacing normal food with low-calorie shakes, soups, bars, or porridge containing milk.
VLCDs are typically for adults who are obese – defined as having a BMI over 30 – but should not be the first option to manage obesity.
These diets should only be followed under medical supervision for a maximum of 12 weeks continuously,...
...They should only be a last resort option and followed under the correct supervision.
If your GP agrees that a VLCD is a good idea, the next step is to find a good provider of a VLCD. Your GP may be able to help with this, too.8 -
